These are the rural youth development journeys we are offering.

Start your journey as a Country Kid (8-12 yrs), entering our competitions and showcasing your early interests.

Decide if you want to journey along the Showgirl pathway (13-17 yrs) or the Rural Ambassador pathway (13-19 yrs), and enter the Junior competition.

The Junior competition will naturally flow into the adult Showgirl (18-28 yrs) and Rural Ambassador (20-30 yrs) competitions, where your local journey expands to the sub-chamber, state, and national levels.

You may recall that at the show this year, the Cookery section hosted a Celebrity gingerbread house decorating challenge, followed by an auction. We are pleased to announce that the proceeds from the Gingerbread house auction were donated to Stanthorpe BUSHkids recently.

The photo below shows BUSHkids child and family facilitator Susan Surch receiving a cheque for $2,000.00 from Cookery section chief steward Wendy Maitland. Also present at the presentation were Evie Gasparin (current showgirl), Denise Ingram and auctioneer Anne Lindsay.

Congratulations to Stanthorpe BUSHkids, the recipients of the gingerbread houses and the Cookery section for enabling this contribution to support the health and well-being of children and families in our community.

The Stanthorpe Agricultural Society is launching our contribution to the Queensland Ag Shows Rural Ambassador Awards program, and is now seeking young men and women in our community to participate.

🐴 🐴 🐴 🐴 🐴
The Rural Ambassador Awards is a National Competition that highlights and celebrates young people who have a genuine interest in rural and regional Australia. The Awards aim to provide opportunities for young people to promote rural communities and industries, as well as be involved in promoting the importance of agriculture and food production. The Awards will identify and recognise the next generation of leaders who have a strong commitment to agricultural industries and an involvement and or a genuine interest for the Agricultural Show movement either at the Local, State or National level.

πŸ… πŸ… πŸ… πŸ… πŸ…
The young men and women who take part in this program will represent their chosen agricultural field and be supported by their corresponding Stanthorpe Agricultural Society subcommittee or local business. They will be given a wealth of opportunities to gain skills and knowledge, boost their confidence, network and socialise, and most of all, represent Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt along their rural ambassador journey.

Stanthorpe is part of the Darling Downs sub-chamber and, along with our neighbouring towns of Warwick, Killarney, and Allora, we have the chance to provide outstanding opportunities for the young ladies in our community. This competition encourages the participation and subsequent awareness of the women’s contribution and involvement in both local communities and rural Queensland as a whole.
