RSL Stanthorpe Sub Branch

As the unveiling of the Soldiers Memorial model gets closer, I'd thought I'd share some newspaper articles I came across while researching the project, I thought it would be easier for you to read if I typed them out, I've copied them word for word and the details including names and dates are true, I played around with a newspaper front page design for authenticity, here's the first issue.
Edit, just noticed the date on the paper should be 1924 not 1934🤦

Stanthorpe Soldiers Memorial ...
Finished off last night adding the gable infill walls to the side walls of the building (see red dots), the whole side walls now have a flat surface that I can layer up with the decorative details which you can see done on the end walls.

Stanthorpe Dawn Service 2026

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
Lest we Forget

Today we honour the sacrifices of young men and women who have served to keep our nation safe.

ANZAC Day in Stanthorpe – Special Flypast 🛩️

During the ANZAC Day mid‑morning service in Stanthorpe, spectators will be treated to a truly memorable moment - a replica Spitfire flypast, flown by pilot Mark Appo, over High Street.

📅Saturday 25 April
⏰Between 10:30am and 11:00am
📍Stanthorpe – High Street

This impressive low‑level flypast is designed to honour our service men and women and will be a highlight of the morning. We encourage the community to come along, reflect, and share in this special tribute.

⚠️ Important Safety Notice ⚠️
Because the aircraft will be flying lower than standard Air Force operations, Council advises that drones must NOT be used in the Stanthorpe main town area during this time. This is essential to ensure the safety of pilots, spectators, and the wider community.

Let’s come together to remember, honour, and experience this powerful ANZAC Day moment, safely and respectfully!
