Our February crafter is Angela van Zweden who is know for her fabulous knitting. Angela lives in Wynyard and has been with us at Hearts n’ Crafts since 2023. Angela knits adult and children’s jumpers, novelty tea cosies, beanies and toys.
Angela’s love for knitting came through her mother who was also a dress maker and they now share a love of knitting together. “I find knitting a gentle craft great for de-stressing
Angela said. “ I cannot resist a good yarn sale and my stash is growing lol”
Angela had attempted to sell her goods at various market but much prefers the Hearts n’ crafts shop in Stanley to sell her goods.
Everyone benefit from sales at the shop, the customers, the crafter as well as the community from a yearly donation.
“The customers come from far and wide, and it’s great to chat to them when working in the shop”
“Being part of the group of crafter’s who are like minded is very special also” Angela said
Cheers Angela ♥️
If you need a new jumper come on over to Hearts n’ Crafts Stanley 11am till 4 pm daily.

Our artisan for January is Marie Loumeau. Marie is a very talented lady who does many different things through crocheting and has a few other specialties. Marie lives in Forest and has been a member of our craft shop for several years now. Marie crochets various animals (including hippos), memory games, bags, scrunchies, headbands, scarves, purses, wallets, tea cosies, cup cosies, baby blankets, knee blankets, and key rings. Marie’s other specialties are small wooden bowls, macramé wall hangings, and baskets. Marie has been crafting for 20+ years, and it provides her with a sense of accomplishment and an opportunity to express her creativity. Hearts n’ Crafts shop has provided her with the opportunity to share her creative pieces. Marie finds it great to have a chance like this to sell her goods. Marie said, “The pitfalls of crafting are overstocking and messy work areas, but I am a tidy person, so I try to keep some order in that area.” Marie’s other comment was, “I enjoy the company of the other members who are supportive and a very creative bunch of people.” Our best time of the year is September to May, and then we usually have a couple of months’ break. Please see attached photos of just some of Marie’s craft pieces 😊. Come and visit Hearts n’ Crafts, open every day 11-4.

Our next craft person is Michelle McDonald Michelle is from South Forest and she’s been a member of the Craft Shop for over 20 years Michelle does fairisle knitted beanies, felt hats, felt and knitted shoulder bags and fingerless socks for mittens. Oh and also knitted headbands. Michelle has been crafting and quite some time and she finds it relaxing and helps keep her mind and hands busy. “It’s good for your mental health”. Said Michelle. Michelle believes that everyone should have a hobby. Michelle‘s biggest problem is she keeps buying more wool and has too much already 🤣Michelle appreciates the fact that Hearts Crafts shop is available to her otherwise she would have to do more markets which are often hard work. The benefits of Hearts ‘n’ Crafts community shop is being able to sell your hand made goods and t ok n hen the community benefits, the customers benefits therefore everyone is a winner. The visitors and tourist that come to Stanley get to see the wonderful work that is done by hand. Michelle‘s always surprised at the amount and who buys her goods. ❤️ It’s interesting that knitted items sell all year round. As you may know we do a at least a day a month, voluntarily, to run the shop and it’s a great time because you get to meet very interesting people from all over the world. And yes, we do close for 2 to 3 months in the winter so that we’ve got time to restock our goods. Also, it’s very cold at that time. cheers Michelle
ps Michelle is also on FB but the name of Michelle the Mad Hatter 🧑‍🌾

Our second crafter ❤️ me
Hi my name is Rosemary Jeffery and I am currently co ordinator oh Hearts “n” Crafts. I make things from recycled materials. I have been crafting for about 15 years. Prior to that I was working in aged care and believed I didn’t have an art bone in me. Once I retired my right brain kicked into gear and now I cannot stop making craft things.
To source item for my pictures and pieces I frequent op shops garage sales junk markets. Friends and acquaintances also give me their old jewellery to recycle.
I don’t just recycle jewellery I also use pictures frames, ornaments, bags, Woden letters, records, fancy materials, jars, trinkets boxes the list is endless in what can be remastered. I also love the opportunity to sell my master pieces to the public to enable me to buy and recycle more stuff. That is why the craft shop is such a blessing. Not only do the customers get a beautiful item the community gets rewarded by the donation from the shop every year. Every one is a winner. Land fill reduction, the customer, and the community an me. Cheers for now. ❤️
PS I also make paper butterflies 🦋see in photos

Hi everyone, over the next few months we are doing an “introductions” to our artisans at Hearts “n “ Crafts. (HnC)
The first person to be Introduced is Lyndy Hoodless. Lyndy lives in a 110 year old Cottage in Burnie. She has been a member of HnC since 2010. Some examples that Lyndy makes are, lavender bags, knitted socks, knitted scarfs, embroidery, sewing. (See attached phots of Lyndy’s craft)
Lyndy has been making various craft items most of her adult life and enjoys the opportunity to share what she does with friends and the public. Lyndy often wishes she had more time to try other types of craft work but with what she makes now it keeps her pretty busy. The advantage of HnC for the customers is they are purchasing hand made,Tassie made, quality goods. HnC is situated in a tourist town so is very busy September till June. Lyndy says fortunately for us we have a 2 month break which gives me time to restock my products. Lyndy is part of approx 17 other members who all contribute a variety of crafts to the shop.
Come on down and check out our wonderful hand made items 😊❤️

Are you aware that Hearts ‘n’ Crafts Stanley has a long-standing tradition of donating its profits to the local community, dating back to 2001? The attached photo provides a comprehensive overview of the donations made until last year to various community groups, including schools, nursing homes, service clubs, senior citizens, hospital auxiliary, and Stanley town hall. This year, we have donated $6,000 to the community in 2025. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the loyal patronage of locals, visitors, and craft makers. We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all.
