Goju Ryu Kenkyukai Brisbane It was instituted by Taira Masaji Sensei, to provide a collaborative learning group of like-minded practitioners to collectively advance our karate.

This is the page of the Brisbane branch of the Okinawa Goju Ryu Kenkyukai; a global karate organisation set up to promote research into the practical application of Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate kata and technique. Unlike many organisations we don't exist just to follow the precise method of Taira Sensei's kata and bunkai as we are all different, with different skills and abilities. Through research we

will discover the common factors that go into effective karate practice and use those factors to continually improve. Training is led by Sinn Chew (6th Dan) at the UQ Karate Club (University of Queensland) :
Tuesdays : 7.30 to 9pm
Thursdays : 6 to 7.30pm
Sundays : 6 to 8pm
