We all age, which is why research into living longer, healthier and more independent lives matters.

Yesterday afternoon, researchers from the Kolling Institute shared how their work across dementia, medication management, mobility, osteoarthritis and mental health is advancing healthy ageing and improving quality of life.

Thank you to our researchers for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who joined us to explore the research shaping the future of healthy ageing.

Andre was born 16 weeks premature, weighing just 650g.

After spending five months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital, Andre recently returned as a thriving 11-year-old, reuniting with the team who cared for him.

Grateful for the care their family received, Andre’s parents, Ariel and Marco, have also given back to the NICU to help support other babies and families.

This Neonatal Nurses Day, we say a heartfelt thank you to the incredible neonatal nurses whose skill, compassion and dedication make a lasting difference to families like Andre’s. ❤

A big congratulations to our community fundraising superstar Karen Humphries, who completed this year's City2Surf alongside her incredible support crew, including her longtime physio and friend Darren Pivetta and teammate Suzie McGregor.

Living with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, Karen continues to inspire us all by turning her energy towards something bigger, raising funds for Professor Nick Pavlakis's ctDNA research at the Kolling Institute

We're so grateful for the people who have walked beside Karen throughout her journey. Together, they're helping create hope for families facing cholangiocarcinoma and funding research that could make a real difference for future patients.

Congratulations to entire Cholangio Queen team. What an incredible effort! 💙👏

When Howard had a sudden stroke, his world fell silent. He was awake, but unable to move or speak.

Thanks to the rapid response of paramedics and the specialist team at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, Howard received lifesaving treatment within minutes. Although the stroke left him with aphasia, affecting his ability to communicate, dedicated rehabilitation and compassionate care helped him regain what mattered most – his voice.

Once upon a time...

There was an incredible group of clinicians and researchers tackling some of healthcare's biggest challenges.

One is working to transform su***de prevention. Another is revolutionising sepsis care. Others are uncovering the impact of poor sleep on heart health and tackling the growing burden of coronary artery disease.

They have the expertise. They have the evidence. They have solutions that could improve the health outcomes of millions of people.

But there was one challenge: not enough people knew their stories.

So yesterday, they stepped into a different kind of learning environment.

Thank you to renowned health journalist and NORTH Foundation Ambassador Sophie Scott for leading an inspiring media training session with some of the brightest minds from the Northern Sydney Local Health District.

The stories behind these groundbreaking projects are too important not to be told. And trust us... some exciting announcements are on the horizon. Stay tuned.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Mackenzie isn't just an elite athlete. She is also an Ear, Nose and Throat Registrar at Northern Beaches Hospital, balancing the demands of high-performance sport with a career caring for patients in our community.

Mackenzie was flying straight home and heading back to work following her Commonwealth Games success, demonstrating the same dedication and commitment that has made her a champion both on and off the field.

From everyone at the NORTH Foundation, congratulations Mackenzie. We are incredibly proud to celebrate a member of our local health community whose determination, excellence and service inspire us all 💚💛
