We’re proud to share that our Queanbeyan Veteran and Family Hub has been recognised with the Excellence in the Care Economy Award at the 2026 Queanbeyan-Palerang Business Awards.

This award reflects the strong connection the Hub has built within its local community, and the meaningful support it continues to provide to veterans and their families.

Chief Veteran Services Officer David Anderson said the recognition is a testament to the dedication of the team and volunteers: “I’m incredibly proud of the Queanbeyan team and the work they’ve done to become such an important part of their local community. Hub Manager Richard Norris, along with Kerry Pocklington and Mel Aitchison - supported by a dedicated group of volunteers led by Dawn Roberts - have created a welcoming and trusted space where veterans and their families can access support, build connections and feel a genuine sense of belonging. This award is well deserved and reflects the dedication, care and community spirit they bring to everything they do.”

🎉 National Anzac Day Colouring Competition – Winners Announced! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s National Anzac Day Colouring Competition. We were blown away by the response!

With over 580 entries from children across Australia, this year’s competition was truly special. Thank you to all our Veteran and Family Hubs nationwide who encouraged participation and helped make this such a meaningful event.

Our Event Ambassador Annabelle Wilson, together with Annabelle’s daughter Prim, took on the very tough (but rewarding) task of selecting our national winners for Category A and Category B.

And the winners are… 🎉

🏆 5–8 years category
Imani Rensen (6yrs) - Central Coast Veteran and Family Hub (NSW)
Imani’s prize is a $500 Kids Voucher

RSL LifeCare acknowledges with deep sadness the passing of Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle following a parachuting training incident on 11 May 2026.

This tragic loss is a profound reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve our nation.

Our heartfelt condolences are with WO2 Muddle’s family and loved ones, his colleagues, and all members of the defence and veteran community affected by this loss.

At times like these, we are reminded that service is carried not only by the individual, but also by their families, friends, and mates in uniform. We encourage our community to come together, to check in on one another, and to seek support when needed.

RSL LifeCare is here for veterans and their families, always. For local veteran community members, our Shoalhaven Veteran and Family Hub team are here to support. Support is also available from many dedicated organisations who care for the veteran community.

It's been a month since the teams hit the green for the 2026 Veteran Services Golf Day, and we're all still reliving the fun of the day. The weather was fantastic, as was the spirit and camaraderie on the day - all thanks to our sponsors, players and contributors.

Days like this remind us of the power of connection and community. And also the importance of working together to enable the veteran and family community to access support and services which they deserve.

Together, we were able to raise nearly $28,000 in support of veterans and their families.

Together with RSL NSW, we're proud to officially open the permanent Hunter Veteran and Family Hub in Maitland – a welcoming, purpose-built space designed with and for the Hunter community.

This Hub is more than a building. It’s a place of connection, support and belonging, where veterans and their families can access holistic services close to home, reconnect with their community, and find the same sense of camaraderie many experienced during service.

This Hub has been made possible thanks to the incredible support of the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs, RSL NSW and its sub-Branches, and also the local community who helped bring this vision to life, the opening marked a powerful milestone and a long-term commitment to standing alongside the Hunter’s veteran families.

As the sun rose over the Pacific Ocean this Anzac Day, a powerful moment of reflection unfolded atop one of Australia's most iconic landmarks - the Sydney Harbour Bridge. RSL LifeCare, in partnership with BridgeClimb Sydney, hosted a special Dawn Service to honour the brave men and women who have served in our Defence Forces. At the summit, climbers took part in a deeply moving service attended by almost 100 participants, including Chair of RSL LifeCare Board Sangeeta Venkatesan, RSL LifeCare Chief Veteran Services Officer David Anderson, as well as veterans, family members and members of the general public, making it the largest climb group to date for this service.

A portion of ticket sales from this memorable event go towards supporting RSL LifeCare’s vital work supporting veterans and their families. We’d like to extend our thanks to BridgeClimb Sydney for helping bring this meaningful tribute to life and for their ongoing support of RSL LifeCare and our vital programs for veterans and their families.

Every year, around 6,000 veterans in Australia experience homelessness.

Jason is one of them, and through our Homes for Heroes program, Jason found more than a roof over his head. He found safety, stability and the chance to regain his dignity and pride. We thank Jason for sharing his story and inspiring others.

Homes for Heroes provides transitional accommodation and support to help veterans get back on their feet and move forward with confidence.
