Lord Murray celebrates Christmas at Government House - https://tooraktimes.com.au/?p=151167 - As the sun sets on yet another year, our lead photographer and chief crime reporter, Lord Murray Schoorman was invited by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, the Governor of Victoria to attend a celebration at Government House tonight. It’s 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸…so what better time to share stories from Victorian clubs celebrating Women in Bowls.

St Kilda Bowls Club shows what can be done by empowering female members and providing a safe and inclusive space for women to shine. Female members make up one third of the club’s bowling membership, with many more enjoying social membership as well.

St Kilda’s culture of inclusion can be seen at their monthly ‘working women’s lunch’ held on the last Friday of the month, as well as their annual winter ‘St Kilda Ladies Lunch’, at which St Kilda’s past and present female members come together to reminisce, share stories, and celebrate the camaraderie that defines the club. These gatherings are a testament to the enduring bonds formed at St Kilda and reflect the club’s commitment to providing a space where women can connect and celebrate their place in the sport.

This progressive attitude embraced by St Kilda BC extends beyond the green, with 90% of the club’s committee being female. They’ve fostered relationships with local community groups to expand their reach to new and wider markets, and they’ve paired their inclusive approach with policies that support their ethos.
For St Kilda Bowls Club, inclusion isn’t just an ideal; it’s their proud reality.
