The St Georges Basin NSW SES Unit is the combat agency for floods, storms and tsunami in the Jervis Bay, St Georges Basin, Sussex Inlet and surrounding areas. For emergency assistance during storms/floods, call 132 500, or call 000 if it is life-threatening.

Last night Rotary hosted the Shoalhaven Emergency Services Community Awards (SESCA).

Congratulations to all the SESCA finalists and award recipients!

Congratulations to Richard Findsen from NSW St Georges Basin SES who was presented with two awards -

* Officer of the Year Finalist
* Shoalhaven SES Officer of the Year.

We are extremely proud of Richard’s commitment and community spirit!

Last night at St Georges Basin unit…. Our volunteers are always ready for unpredictable weather. Rain is still forecast with a chance of a thunderstorm.

UPDATE:

The SES supplies sand and sandbags at Thomson Street Sussex Inlet. This is for residents to prepare for a weather event bringing possible heavy rain. On several occasions the sand has rapidly disappeared despite there being no weather event. We have had reports of people filling a trailer. Six sandbags can save a house flooding. Please leave the sand and bags for people who genuinely need it. We try to help you as best we can. Please help us.

St George’s Basin SES will replace the sand at Thomson Street Sussex Inlet asap before the predicted upcoming weather at the end of the week.

Busy week for our St George’s Basin SES volunteers clearing fallen trees from properties and rooves. More rain possible this week, so a good idea to clean up around your home and check those gutters.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident off Ballina Bar overnight. Not only the loss of life from Marine Rescue NSW, but also the loss of life from the vessel they were responding to.
We extend our sincere condolences to all those affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with you all during this extremely difficult time. ❤️

NSW SES St Georges Basin volunteers and teams from across the Shoalhaven supported the Australian Federal Police in a beach and dune line search. While no evidence was located, the activity demonstrated the strength of interagency teamwork on the ground.
