IMPORTANT NOTICE

After consulting with Stand Tall 4 PTS, it was decided to postpone the Hope and Recovery Competition due to the small number of entries. A small number of entries does not make fair competition and it does not make an exhibition.

The entries to date will remain valid for when the competition is rescheduled for later this year, the date to be determined by the end of May. If an entrant wants to withdraw, please contact me.

It is a real shame to have to do this, but the result of this competition requires significant more interest and entries.

A big thank you to those who have expressed their interest and those who have entered, I am incredibly grateful for your support. I will be in touch again as soon as we determine when to re-launch.

Take care

Richard

So m uch has been said about recovery from mental trauma. there is still some conjecture about exactly what it is and the Hope & recovery Art Competition asks the artists to provide their interpretation of what recovery means to them and the entries are showing that everyone has a different view on the subject.

Without going into all the complexities of scientific and medical interpretations I found these two photos when looking through my wife's phone photos and both struck me as a real representation of what I consider my recovery to look like. Consider it a simple depiction or not, it is my visual representation of my recovery. Two activities aid my recovery without question, photography and playing the guitar. Remember, this is me, what makes you feel this way?

The organizers of the Hope and Recovery Art Competition and Exhibition are pleased to announce that authority has been granted for a special guest exhibitor to show samples of the amazing work he does. His story is below. His work is unique as he uses photo art as his medium, but each piece shows the emotional journey of people with trauma-related illness and su***de ideation.
The photos displayed at the Exhibition will be for sale and Daniel is donating the proceeds to Stand Tall 4 PTS, a very generous offer.

ABOUT DANSUN
Daniel was born in Alberta, Canada. Taking up a global residency as an English language teacher in Egypt, Mexico, Indonesia, and Japan, he is now a firefighter and paramedic for the City of Leduc.
His love of photography began during his travels, and as his technique developed, he started to produce a blend of photography and graphic art, which he calls Photo Art.
Most of Daniel’s work involves emergency services photography. It involves an emotional connection to the artist as most of his pieces are based on actual emergency calls, he has attended as a paramedic and firefighter. He’s passionate about reducing the stigma of PTSD for first responders and he uses his art to raise awareness of occupational stress injuries worldwide.
He is a published artist and writer and has two art books produced of his works. Articles of his work have been featured in Canadian Paramedicine, Journal of Emergency Medicine (JEMS), Fire Rescue Magazine in Greece and EMS World Magazine. His art is recognized worldwide, and he travels internationally speaking about his art and firsthand experiences with occupational stress injuries. He’s a pre-hospital educator, a professional public speaker, photographer, and photo editor.
Daniel enjoys combining the technical and artistic elements of his work. Each piece can take several days or weeks of processing until he feels it’s ready. He continues to travel often and gains inspiration for his art from his experiences.
