They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

We pause today to honour and remember those who have sacrificed for our country, and thank those who continue to serve. We also recognise that Defence Force personnel, veterans and their families are at a higher risk of experiencing homelessness.

We thank the many organisations and agencies who work with veterans and families in providing housing support, and specialised holistic services to reduce their risk of insecure housing and prevent homelessness.

Youth Homelessness Matters Day – A Gold Coast Perspective
Experience powerful youth voices + celebrate young people

Every young person deserves a place to call home

Youth Homelessness Matters Day is an important moment each year to come together as a community, listen deeply and stand alongside young people experiencing homelessness.

This year we invite you to join us for a special gathering that centres the voices of young people with lived and living experience. Together we will screen the powerful short documentary A Place To Call Home, hear reflections from young people and create space for conversation, connection and action.

There will also be creative, interactive activities, lunch and free haircuts for young people aged 12–25 years. Youth workers are warmly encouraged to attend with the young people they support.

Everyone is welcome — young people, youth workers, community members and allies who care about ensuring every young person has a place to call home. Come along, listen, learn and stand alongside young people in our community.

This week there was a beautiful twist in proceedings at the Service Integration meeting in Redlands. Q Shelter's Bree Tukavkin, the Service Integration Facilitator for Redlands, regularly hands out awards to individuals and organisations in the region to recognise their contributions.

On Tuesday, the members of the housing and homelessness network banded together to recognise the tireless work Bree does for the network and in supporting vulnerable people in the Redlands region.

We're very proud of the work Bree does, but we'll let her fellow Redlands colleagues tell you why:

"Her tenacity, strength, empathy, and drive shine through in her work with Redlands' most vulnerable. She truly embodies the heart and soul of the Redlands!"

Thanks for all you do Bree!

The QLD Government is seeking feedback from individuals on Women’s Economic Security, and this is a great opportunity to share your voice.

Why it matters 🌻
Queensland’s economic success depends on women’s full economic participation and inclusion. Economic security underpins all other elements of equality and opportunity throughout women’s lives.
This strategy will be created with women, for women, in partnership with community and industry leaders. It will tackle barriers in areas like:
health ✔️
housing✔️
safety and justice✔️
education✔️
employment and training✔️
It will also reflect the experiences of women from diverse backgrounds.
