In Scouts we try to focus on teaching important skills like, teaching the youth not to not dive in head first, but taking the time to think, plan and problem solve before jumping into a task.

The challenge for the night was to build the tallest structure possible using only straws.

The Scouts first had to plan their design, then work together to build it, and finally review how it went. They discussed what worked well, what challenges they faced, and what they would do differently next time.

It was fantastic seeing teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills in action.
Learning isn't just about the final result it's also about the process and reflecting on how we can improve.

Earlier this term, the Spreyton Joeys put the โ€œoutโ€ in Scouting with a trip to the Devonport Art Gallery. ๐ŸŽจ

Our Joeys spent time exploring the gallery and viewing the amazing artwork on display before choosing their favourite piece. They then got creative and drew the artwork that inspired them most.

Once the gallery closed, we headed over to the light show where the fun continued with games, laughter, and some reflection on everything we had experienced during the evening.

It was a fantastic night full of creativ
ity, adventure and fun, with a great time had by all! โญ

This term at Cubs we had a big focus on sustainability and worked hard towards earning our Champions of Nature Challenge badge. ๐ŸŒฑ

We spent time learning all about our carbon footprint what things make it bigger and what small changes we can make to help make it smaller.

We also got creative by making up games that got everyone talking, learning and thinking about sustainability and how we can improve our impact on the world around us.

To wrap up our badge work, we put our creativity to the test and created art pieces using recycled materials, proving that old items can be turned into something amazing.

Learning, creating, having fun and helping look after our planet what a fantastic effort from our Cubs this term! Weโ€™re so proud of this great group of young people. ๐ŸŒโ™ป๏ธ

Just recently, the Spreyton Scout Group spent a night putting their construction skills to the test, building a tower and impressively, it was strong enough to hold them all!

They also enjoyed spending time together around the fire pot, cooking their own meals and learning valuable life skills along the way before settling in for the night in tents.

What a fantastic bunch of young people showing teamwork, resilience and a willingness to give anything a go. Weโ€™re so proud of them!

At Spreyton Scouts we currently have 3 sections running:

โญ Joeys: 5 years (and attending full-time school) to 8 years
โญ Cubs: 8 to 11 years
โญ Scouts: 11 to 14 years

At Cubs, we focus heavily on developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Our Cubs learn important life skills such as cooking, cleaning up after themselves, teamwork and responsibility. They also learn how to plan activities, lead activities, and reflect afterwards on what worked well and what they would do differently next time.

We encourage them to have a voice and help make decisions about the activities they would like to do, giving them confidence and ownership along the way.

Most importantly... they have fun while learning skills that will stay with them for life! ๐Ÿ•๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ’š National Volunteers Week ๐Ÿ’š

Introducing Theresa:

This National Volunteer Week, weโ€™re celebrating the incredible people who help keep Scouting running behind the scenes including our amazing volunteer Treasurer. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ

For almost 2 years, theyโ€™ve dedicated their time and skills to supporting our young scouts. As a parent within the Group, they wanted to give back and bring something different to the team and weโ€™re so glad they did!

From managing finances to helping ensure opportunities continue for our young people, their contribution makes a real difference.

Thank you for everything you do to support Scouting in Tasmania and help create positive experiences for our youth. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’š Volunteer Week ๐Ÿ’š

Introducing Eleni
Chairperson on the committee

I joined Scouts about 8 years ago because my son loved it and I wanted to be part of something he enjoyed.

What I didnโ€™t expect was how much I would love it too. Over the years, Scouts has given me an amazing community, wonderful friendships, and so many great memories through camps, events, and fundraisers along the way.

The people are what make Scouts so special, and Iโ€™m so grateful to be part of it.

A big thank you to all the incredible volunteers who give their time, support, and heart to make Scouts possible every day. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’š National Volunteer Week ๐Ÿ’š

Introducing Hawk

I have been involved in Scouting since 1984, and it has been an incredible journey.

Scouting is more than just camps and activities โ€” itโ€™s about building confidence, resilience, friendships, and life skills that last forever. It has been an honour to play a part in their development and see them become capable, resilient individuals.

While many things have changed over the years, the core values and concepts of Scouting remain the same as those founded by BP โ€” helping young people grow, learn, and thrive through adventure and community.

A heartfelt thank you to all volunteers who continue to dedicate their time and passion to shaping future generations. ๐ŸŒŸ
