This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who help keep Scouting running behind the scenes including our amazing volunteer Treasurer. 💚💜

For almost 2 years, they’ve dedicated their time and skills to supporting our young scouts. As a parent within the Group, they wanted to give back and bring something different to the team and we’re so glad they did!

From managing finances to helping ensure opportunities continue for our young people, their contribution makes a real difference.

Thank you for everything you do to support Scouting in Tasmania and help create positive experiences for our youth. 🌟

I joined Scouts about 8 years ago because my son loved it and I wanted to be part of something he enjoyed.

What I didn’t expect was how much I would love it too. Over the years, Scouts has given me an amazing community, wonderful friendships, and so many great memories through camps, events, and fundraisers along the way.

The people are what make Scouts so special, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.

A big thank you to all the incredible volunteers who give their time, support, and heart to make Scouts possible every day. 🌟

I have been involved in Scouting since 1984, and it has been an incredible journey.

Scouting is more than just camps and activities — it’s about building confidence, resilience, friendships, and life skills that last forever. It has been an honour to play a part in their development and see them become capable, resilient individuals.

While many things have changed over the years, the core values and concepts of Scouting remain the same as those founded by BP — helping young people grow, learn, and thrive through adventure and community.

A heartfelt thank you to all volunteers who continue to dedicate their time and passion to shaping future generations. 🌟

For 31 years, I have proudly been a Leader and Mentor in Scouts.

There is a great sense of pride in guiding young people through their achievement pathways, helping build confidence, resilience, and respect so they are ready to face life’s challenges in an ever-changing world. Seeing youth earn the respect of others while also learning to give respect in return is incredibly rewarding.

The friendships, memories, and sense of community created through this journey and Scouts are truly something special. 💚

A huge thank you to all volunteers who dedicate their time, experience, and passion to helping shape the next generation. 🌟

Introducing Monkey

For National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating one of our dedicated Scout leaders who began their Scouting journey as a Cub, then continued through Scouts themselves.

At 18, they were approached by a previous leader and encouraged to come back as a leader and the rest is history! Now, they get to experience the joy of watching their own children grow and thrive through the movement as well.

Scouting helped build their confidence and taught valuable life skills when they were young, and now they’re passionate about passing those skills and experiences on to the leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you for your dedication, commitment, and the positive impact you continue to make within our Scout community 💚

Introducing Rikki Tikki Tavi

This September marks 11 years of volunteering in Scouting! ⚜️

What first started because “it looked interesting and fun” quickly became so much more. Scouting is about meeting new people, building community, and watching young people grow in confidence and skills every single week.
Scouting creates opportunities for adventure and growth: the countless exciting activities, every challenge helps shape resilient and capable young people. 🏕️⛵🧗

One of the greatest rewards of volunteering is seeing youth step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and achieve things they never thought possible.

Thank you for 11 years of dedication, encouragement, and adventure in Scouting. Volunteers like you make all the difference. 💚

💚 National Volunteer Week 💚

Introducing Baloo

What a journey it has been for this young man!
From joining Scouts in 1956 as a Cub, to becoming a dedicated Cub Leader and mentor for generations of young people this incredible volunteer has given nearly 70 years to Scouting. ⚜️

In 1979, they took on the role of Cub Leader at East Devonport Scout Group before later moving to 3rd Devonport/Spreyton, where the Pack grew so much it expanded to two Packs with 36 Cubs! Even after many years of service, they returned 7–8 years ago to continue helping at Spreyton Cub Pack.

At 80 years young, they still treasure the memories, experiences, and friendships Scouting has given them especially reconnecting with Cubs from their early days as a leader.

Thank you for your lifetime of dedication, leadership, and kindness. Volunteers like you are the heart of Scouting. 💚

Introducing Froggy

What started in 2012 as helping out soon became an incredible Scouting journey, stepping into the role of Joey Scout Leader in 2013. For the past 13 years, they’ve helped guide our youngest Scouts through hands-on learning, adventurous play, and discovering their own unique skills. ⚜️

Scouting first began as a way to reconnect with and support their own children in their Scouting journeys but it quickly became so much. The rewards of volunteering are endless.

Thank you for the passion, care, and dedication you bring to Scouting and the incredible impact you continue to make on young people every week. 💚
