We’re proud to acknowledge the strong collaboration between Biraban LALC and neighbouring Awabakal, Bahtabah Local Aboriginal Land Councils, TAFE, and National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW, in supporting the Statewide Aboriginal Cultural Tour Expansion Project.
This project represents the power of partnership, shared knowledge, and a collective commitment to protecting and celebrating Aboriginal culture, stories, and Country for future generations. By working together across communities and organisations, we are creating meaningful cultural tourism opportunities that strengthen connection, education, and respect for Aboriginal heritage throughout NSW.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, knowledge, leadership, and support to this important initiative. We especially recognise the Elders, community members, cultural knowledge holders, staff, and partners whose dedication continues to guide this work forward.
Your commitment to collaboration and cultural preservation is helping create lasting opportunities for our communities and visitors alike.

Proud to be connected with the Lake Macquarie Business Chamber, working alongside local businesses to advocate for small business in our community.

Strong communities are built through respectful, considerate relationships and supporting one another across our LGA to grow, collaborate and succeed together.

Looking forward to continuing those connections and contributing wherever we can.

Lake Macquarie City Council and Biraban Local Aboriginal Land Council have partnered to protect and rehabilitate more than 150m of foreshore at Shingle Splitters Point, Balcolyn.

The $200,000 project addressed storm erosion while respecting and protecting the area’s significant Aboriginal cultural heritage a strong example of collaboration with traditional custodians to care for Country and community.

• Rock revetment installed to stabilise the shoreline after severe 2025 storms
• Aboriginal heritage officers worked closely with Council throughout the project
• Ancient shell middens highlight the area’s long cultural history on Awabakal land
• The project strengthens relationships and sets a positive foundation for future partnerships

A great outcome for the environment, cultural heritage and the local community.
