Australasian Order of OBs Gold Coast

Australasian Order of OBs Gold Coast A friendly bunch of Old Bastards get together to raise money for a variety of Children's Charities. We welcome Old Bastards from everywhere!

With a drink in hand, a raffle ticket in the other we uphold our Founders motto: "WHILST EVER HOPS GROW ON THIS EARTH, LET NOT PLAIN WATER MAR OUR MIRTH" The Australasian Order of Old Bastards (AOOB) was formed in Glebe in 1968, dedicated to joviality and good fellowship, and raising money for charity. Since then the AOOB has donated over $4.8 million to a variety of worthy causes around Australia

. We are the local Gold Coast branch, who meet at various places across the northern Gold Coast, usually for lunch on a Friday. Our Rules are simple:
1. Age and marital status of parents (notwithstanding our glorious name) are irrelevant.
2. It is sufficient to have been acclaimed at least once by friends as an Old Bastard.
3. Members must be jovial and hearty at all times, including shouting in your turn.
4. On encountering other OB’s one must administer a slap on the back and the greeting “G’day you old bastard!”
5. Failure to produce membership card or badge when challenged by another OB incurs a penalty of one round of drinks for the table (not the bar).

Thanks for attending our social AOOB lunch. Great food, a few laughs and beers (and wine) in hand. Fantastic views and four seasons in one day, the Broadwater view is still magnificent.

Hopefully we can get more members to some of these events. We will endeavor to organise some afternoon or evening events so that those of you that cannot make a lunch due to work or other commitments can attend.

Clockwise from front left:
Frank Gould; Kim Silk; Rob Tolmie; Tony Morris; Frank Reynolds; Corrina Davie; Peter Gwynne.

Thanks to Michael Webb and Terry Crimean (absent from photo) for their quick drop-in to say 'HI'!.

Just a reminder to help build up the members to this page. Please forward the page or invite other members you know. (Get the kids and wives and friends also to share what the AOOB are about)

The Bond University Staff Party Fund Raiser on the 12th of December was a huge day out for some of our volunteers and so much fun.
It was a raging success as well as having fun by all and raising $4000 for the AOOB.
700 Snags later and lots of full bellys was a really great day had by all. Lots of laughs and even a couple of beers!!

2025 Was a challenging year for many. I guess that is what the AOOB is all about.

So here is a RECAP of 2025.
We welcomed in a New President - Anthony Morris and new committee members.
We lost a dear dear legend and friend and leader, Arch Old B Mr Ian Hollandale who will be so sorely and sadly missed.

The AOOB Christmas Party was solemnly celebrated under the circumstances with all of these wonderful people. About 30 current members and 6 new members.

Stay tuned for upcoming events and fund raisers for the AOOB Gold Coast in 2026.

And please share this page with as many people as you can. Let's get followers and numbers up and share the community spirit.
