WA is currently responding to a diphtheria outbreak affecting regional areas, particularly the Kimberley, with some cases reported in the Pilbara and Goldfields. Health authorities are encouraging everyone living in regional communities to check that they and their families are up to date with their vaccinations.
Diphtheria is preventable. Vaccination protects individuals, families and communities. If you live in the Pilbara or regional WA, now is a good time to check your vaccination status and talk to a healthcare provider about whether you need a booster.

Wanthaya! Our Thalanyji word of the week, keeping in theme with the "All in" theme for this year's National Reconciliation Week, is "Nganhurru" (pronounced ngan-hu-rru) meaning "we all".

This morning, some of BTAC's staff joined Kuuwa at their offices in West Perth to come together in watching the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast broadcast. Thank you to the team for the warm welcome.

Wanthaya - From Shire of Ashburton: - an opportunity to be involved in the community!

Whether you’ve called Onslow home for years, are new to town, or are simply keen to meet people and get involved—this is a fantastic opportunity to connect and be part of something special.

The Town Team Movement is heading to Onslow on Thursday, 28 May, from 4:00pm to 6:30pm at the Onslow Community Gardens—and you’re invited to join the action!

They’ll be spending the afternoon working alongside the community, supporting local ideas, and helping bring shared spaces to life in a fun, hands-on way.

This visit builds on the momentum from last year’s POP Festival and previous workshops with Patrycja Rosinska, where so many great ideas were shared about creating a more vibrant and connected Onslow.

Now it’s time to bring those ideas off the page and into reality! On the day, you can get involved in:

✨ Planting out three community garden beds
🎨 Creating a collaborative rock snake art piece
📣 Hearing key insights from the Onslow listening report
💡 Exploring how you can stay involved and help shape the future of this space

Drop in whenever it suits you—stay for 10 minutes or the whole session. Everything will be provided, including materials and a delicious community BBQ, thanks to our amazing local volunteers.

Bring a friend, spread the word, and come be part of something positive for Onslow—we’d love to see a mix of familiar faces and new connections.

We can’t wait to see you there!
