COAST AND COUNTRY COMMUNITY SERVICES LTD. Coast and Country Community Services is a not for profit company which incorporates 6 service outlets in 5 regional areas, and though we are a young company our outlets are well-recognised community transport providers with combined experience spanning over 90 years! We began as Coa

st and Country Community Services Inc. in 2014 with the merger of Shoalhaven Community Transport and Young Community Transport. Later in 2014 the organisation assumed the auspice of Boorowa Community Transport and Young Community Transport now manages its operations. In 2015 we merged with Weddin Community Transport. Young and Weddin work very closely together ensuring better transport options for our regional customers. Due to the growth of the organisation, in 2015 we also became a company limited by guarantee, Coast and Country Community Services Ltd. An added highlight for 2015 was when we won the coveted Community Transport Organisation’s CT Provider of the Year 2015 Award. In May 2019 we welcomed Bega Valley Community Transport Service to the Coast and Country family. Also in 2019, we were very fortunate to have new premises purpose-built in 2019. Our Head Office, which includes our Nowra outlet, commenced operations in South Nowra in July; the building was officially opened by the Hon. Paul Toole in November of the same year (see Shoalhaven Community Transport News). We are a dedicated group of like-minded people who believe in supporting and encouraging the rights, independence and choice of the people we serve, and this dedication is evident across all our outlets, as the following snippets from the past will show. Shoalhaven Community Transport Service
Shoalhaven Community Transport began in 1986 in a small office within the Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Centre, with grant funding from the Home and Community Care (HACC) program, to deliver transport services to frail aged people and people with disabilities. In the early days we used community vehicles as well as volunteers’ own vehicles. Shoalhaven Community Transport Service has been the recipient of many awards, including the 1992 NSW Senior Citizens Week Premier’s Community Award and the 2014 NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Awards, Community Service Award. Over the past 30 years we have expanded our services and outgrown 6 locations. We currently have outlets in South Nowra and Ulladulla, with an ever-increasing clientele and a fleet of over 20 vehicles to cater for the growing need for our services. Young Community Transport Service
Also established in 1986, community transport began as part of the Young Neighbourhood Centre with funding from the Home and Community Care (HACC) program. The Service began using volunteer drivers and carers, and a rented bus. In 1996 the Young Community Transport Service Inc. was established in its own right and was able to lease its own vehicle, allowing an increase of 150% in trips delivered. In 1997 our Service moved into the Marie McCormick Community Centre with the help of HACC funding and Young Shire Council. We continue at the centre today. In October 2005 and again in 2010, Young Community Transport Service was named Community Transport Service of the year at the annual NSW Community Transport Organisation awards, an honourable achievement and industry acclaim. The merger with Shoalhaven Community Transport in 2013/2014 enabled the organisation to cope with the changing funding climate and the increasing demands for better and more formal governance. Weddin Community Transport Service
Supplied with only a desk, chair and telephone in a rented office, the newly employed Manager was asked to establish Grenfell Community Transport in June 1990. With no direct public transport to the main medical centre in Orange, 2 hours away, the Service began using volunteers’ vehicles to transport clients to medical appointments. The Service grew quickly to become a trusted and respected community transport service for the entire Weddin Shire area, and was renamed Weddin Community Transport Service in the early 1990’s. In 2013 Weddin Community Transport won the Organisation of the Year Award at the Grenfell Australia Day Awards. Weddin Community Transport operates today with volunteer drivers and office helpers to assist our paid staff, a fleet of 2 sedans, a van and a bus to cater for the needs of the area. Bega Valley Community Transport Service
Bega Valley Community Transport joined Coast and Country Community Services in May 2019. Please watch, we will soon have more information about this great service.
