Using the ChompSaw supports safe, hands-on learning as students design, build and create with purpose.

Our Prep to Year 2 students have been turning ideas into creations, designing and building habitat boxes for animals of their choice. Using tools like the ChompSaw, they carefully cut and constructed their models before bringing each habitat to life with thoughtful detail.

Through this hands-on work, students are exploring design, materials and what living things need to survive. This learning brings together Design and Technologies and Science, helping students understand how and why animals live in different habitats.

Our Year 3–6 students explored geometric string art as part of Maths.
They designed their shapes, prepared their timber bases, carefully hammered nails, and threaded wool to bring their ideas to life.
A hands-on way to deepen understanding, build patience, and create something they are truly proud of.

Today’s learning felt a bit like magic. Using turmeric, students watched their hidden designs emerge, discovering along the way how science works in real and surprising ways.

𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄.
This isn’t a future idea, it’s the next step. A space our students will use every day for movement, friendships, and the kind of play that shapes childhood.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀.
With our new shed now in place, the next step is creating safe access, including a pathway and driveway. The question quickly became… how much gravel might we need?

Tape measures came out, ideas were shared, and students explored how to calculate volume and make estimates together.

Practical maths, a shared challenge, and a meaningful way to contribute to our growing space.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘂 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.
Morning tea and lunch are provided each day, and we come together around the table to share food and time with one another.

Ahead of each term, that menu is shaped by the people who eat it. This week, students and staff voted for Term 3. Eight options, five places on the menu, and plenty of conversation along the way.

Our older students guided the process, organising the vote and tallying the results.

𝘚𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮?
Dahl and rice, lentil rolls, stone soup, pizza and vegetable lasagna.

𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘇𝘇 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘁.
Each day, students gather for fruit break, morning tea and lunch, with all meals provided by the school. It’s lively, social and full of small, meaningful moments.

They have a voice in what’s served each term, and over time you see their confidence grow as they try new foods, take what they need, and settle in alongside one another.

Bright plates. Growing independence. A sense of belonging.
No lunchboxes needed.

📮 𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗴𝗼!
Our Y3-6 have been busy putting their English skills to work, writing letters to their pen pals at Enkindle Village School in Townsville ✉️ From planning and drafting to editing and publishing, every step of the writing process came to life in a real and meaningful way.

There’s nothing quite like a 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 audience to make writing exciting… and now the letters are on their way! We can’t wait to hear back 💌
