It's that time of year again!
A fast fact:- Puggles open their eyes around the seventy day old mark, until this point their spine has not developed yet.
Take care!

Unfortunately this old girl couldn't be saved.
Has been reported down Cardwell way last Wednesday and was unable to be located.
Washed ashore here in Narragon Beach deceased.
With a hundred centimeter carapace and faded scute lines, eighty kilograms plus, this old girl has seen around a hundred years of life.

After keeping a low profile over the winter months our Cassowaries are on the move, and with plenty of activity on our roads people need to be vigilant.
Take care!

School holidays people everywhere.
Animals everywhere, phone rang all day wallabies, bandicoots, sea snakes and this little orphaned Stripey doing well after coming into care.

Received a call this morning for a reported sea bird that was found floating about seventy metres off the beach.

Turned out this little one was very lucky to have been spotted.

It is a baby Orange-footed scrub foul, and how it didn't drown is amazing as they are not swimmers.

These guys are pretty hardy as they are fully independent from the moment they hatch.

With all the leaves on the ground at the moment many of you will be aware of the mess they make of our gardens.

Had a rest this afternoon and full of beans and will spend the night in the outside aviary before going to a suitable place tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Spring has surely sprung.
One of our smaller ones in care at the moment.
Please be mindful when driving, a lot of wildlife on the move this time of year day and night.
Take care!

This poor old boy, was struggling off Dunk a couple of days ago but couldn't do anything about it.
Was at the end of a wonderful life.

Early call this morning regarding a bird entangled in line high up in a tree.
Was actually a Metallic Starling but would be a terrible way to die just hanging helplessly.
Took some gear with us but not quite able to reach.
A big thanks to Mark Gough who often comes to the rescue for our wildlife on the Cassowary Coast.

Looks like line and handle from a 🪁
Will ask Cassowary Coast Regional Council if they can possibly remove the remaining kite line from the corner of Kennedy esplanade and Douglas street South Mission Beach.
Reasonably quiet at the moment with birds nesting everywhere, the weather is good but things can change at a moment's notice.

Another Papuan Frogmouth that came in on the 17th.
Took a while to get over her injuries but happy to be home tonight.
These gals seem to get themselves in trouble often.
