Arts Access Victoria’s(AAV) is our state's peak body for arts and disability. Each year we support and work with over 1500 Deaf and Disabled artists to get closer to their artistic ambitions. The work of AAV diversifies the bodies, thinking and ways of being usually experienced in arts and cultural spaces. We’re excited to continue partnering with ABC Australia to support emerging content makers with disability across Australia.

You can pitch a non-fiction, original story idea and work with the ABC to bring it to life.

If you’re successful, you’ll be paid by the ABC for your work and get valuable industry experience.

The ABC will publish and broadcast the stories and content across their platforms for .

Congrats to Nathan Borg, recipient of the 2026 Lesley Hall Arts and Disability Scholarship!

Nathan Borg is an Australian Deaf q***r actor. He is currently a writer and co-creator on SBS and Screen Australia Digital Originals development program, and also works regularly as a Cast Driver in Transport for American productions.

Nathan said, “Receiving the Lesley Hall Scholarship Award is exciting because throughout all of my twenties, I have never won a scholarship or tattslotto. Now, my thirties are the era of winning. I am honoured to be part of the Lesley Hall Scholarship family. To receive the award from respected Deaf community member Irene Holub is also an honour."

Invest in our Workplace Training before the end of the financial year! Now is the time to sign up for Creating Welcoming Environments.

Learn to make your space inviting and safe for Deaf and Disabled people. Led by AAV's expert training team.

This training gives confidence and resources to front of house staff, public facing staff or anyone working with Deaf and disabled visitors/audiences.

You will:
• Recognise unhelpful disability stereotypes
• Become informed about current language and the facts and figures around disability
• Learn practical actions for welcoming all visitors in real life and online
• Get tips for increasing Deaf and Disabled visitor participation

Join us at the AAV offices in South Melbourne. Afternoon tea provided.

When: Wednesday 17 June, 2 – 4:30 pm

Where: Arts Access Victoria, 222 Bank St, South Melbourne

Cost: $200 pp (catering provided)

Access: Wheelchair accessible, Accessible toilet, Auslan interpreted upon request, Quiet space, Assistance animals welcome.

An Australian disability-led not-for-profit, Bus Stop Films empowers people with disability through filmmaking through their award-winning Accessible Filmmaking Program.

The array of short films cover genres including coming-of-age, drama and thriller, screening works such as THIS MUST BE LOVE, +ONE, THE TIDE TURNS, and SOLID GROUND.

This weekly workshop is for people with disability, neurodivergence, mental health conditions, or chronic illness who already have some experience in electronic music production, DJing, beat making, sound design, performance, or creative technology.

We are thrilled to share that Darise Pulfer is our new General Manager at Arts Access Victoria.

Darise is a values-led arts leader with extensive experience across Narrm’s arts and cultural sector. She has worked with organisations including YIRRAMBOI, ILBIJERRI Theatre Company, Collingwood Yards and the City of Melbourne. She brings strengths in leadership, strategy and operations. Her practice is grounded in inclusion, cultural safety and supporting artists and communities to thrive.

She says, “I am excited to be taking on this role at Arts Access Victoria. For over 50 years, AAV has led the way for Arts and Disability in Victoria, leaving their mark across the broader arts and cultural sector. I look forward to playing a part in uplifting Deaf and Disabled artists.”
