Nutrition Biomed Research Institute - NBRI

Nutrition Biomed Research Institute - NBRI NBRI is a dynamic multidisciplinary research institute focusing on links between diet and cancer.

Nutrition Biomed Research Institute (NBRI) is dedicated to bringing diet to the forefront in the fight against cancer. Our mission is to raise the importance of the role of nutrition in cancer prevention and management, via research in this field. While it can vary between specific cancer sites, it is generally considered that around 30-35% of all cancers can be attributed to diet. Therefore, we b

elieve that with the promotion of clear and appropriate evidence-based nutritional recommendations, we can help to significantly reduce the incidence of cancer and improve the lives of those affected by the disease.

Our case report was named one of five studies making a significant contribution to the understanding of colore**al cancer metabolism and having potential for clinical use.

We’re proud to see our work recognised among research shaping the future of colore**al cancer care.

There’s been a lot of media coverage lately about the risks of high-dose vitamin B6 supplements—including serious nerve damage like numbness and tingling.

Having worked as a dietitian and researcher, I’ve seen this pattern for years: people overcorrect with supplements, thinking more is better, only to suffer the consequences. I call it the “over-correction factor.”

Back in 2019, I wrote a blog post (https://nbri.com.au/more-is-not-necessarily-better-sometimes-it-is-just-more/) highlighting similar concerns with other vitamins. Sadly, those warnings are just as relevant today.

We need to rethink how we use supplements. Just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s safe in high doses.

It’s time to move towards personalised nutrition— a science-backed approach that looks at your individual needs rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. That’s the kind of work we’re doing at NBRI, and it’s more important than ever.
