Kastellorizo, Kastellorizian Association of Vic - Australia The Kastellorizian Association of Vic (Australia) is a philanthropic society proudly celebrating 100 years in Victoria.

Kastellorizo also known as Megiste or Megisti, its ancient name, is the smallest inhabited Greek Island in the Dodecanese group, less than 5 km off the south coast of Turkey, about 100 km east of Rhodes. The Kastellorizian community in Melbourne dates back to 1919. The Kastellorizian Association of Victoria aims to preserve and reflect the rich heritage of our amazing Dodecanese Greek island and the community of Kazzies in Victoria!

You are cordially invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the Kazzie Memoir Group. No experience necessary, just a willingness to write, share and support.

The aim of the group is to bring together those interested in writing non-fiction, biographies and memoirs, to learn the craft of recording our Kastellorizian family stories for posterity, before they are lost - and your own stories/reminiscences of growing up in Australia.

This is a golden opportunity to discuss how to begin your journey of recording your stories, short or long, whether in prose, poetry, profiles, articles, a blog or podcast, or through the visual arts.

Co-ordinated by Florence Livery, this inaugural meeting is aimed at gathering interest and commitment and, if successful, to then develop a model to proceed with in 2027.

Let us learn the craft of writing informative and entertaining stories and be open to stimulation! Ela Mesa / Ελα Μέσα (come inside).

KAV Clubrooms, Sunday 1st November 2026, 2:00pm - 4:00pm.

Father’s Day - Kazzie Seniors (Part A)

I had the pleasure of joining the Kazzie Seniors for their monthly luncheon, this time at the Caulfield Glasshouse at Caulfield Racecourse.

Every time I attend one of these gatherings, I am reminded just how lucky we are to have such a happy, warm and joyous group of people.

It is not simply a luncheon. It is a place where people come together, catch up, share stories, have a laugh and enjoy each other's company.

Like all of us, some of our Seniors have experienced their ups and downs. But what is so special about this group is that, whatever life may be throwing at someone, they are embraced by the group. It is a safe place to be. A place where people can come as they are, feel welcome and know that they are among friends.

A huge thank you to Christine Dimer, President of the Kazzie Seniors, Kazzie Seniors Treasurer Garry Miritis along with George Verginis, who do such a wonderful job of bringing everyone together each month. The effort they put into organising these occasions is very much appreciated.
