LGMA Queensland has lodged its submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Operation and Effectiveness of the Councillor Conduct Framework in Queensland.

Drawing on the depth of experience across our membership and LGMA Queensland’s long-standing connection with the local government sector, our submission brings a practical perspective on how the framework operates within councils.

Informed by the experiences and insights of our members, we are calling for a framework that is timely, proportionate, preventative and grounded in the realities of council governance.

LGMA Queensland supports independent oversight for serious conduct matters, while advocating for greater emphasis on prevention, practical guidance, timely resolution and stronger governance outcomes.

Thank you to the members who shared their experience and helped shape our position and recommendations.
