Defenders for Hope believes that by sharing expertise, advocates and policy-makers can end Domestic Violence.

Every day we inspire, inform and connect all concerned with the issue, because together we're stronger. Defenders for Hope can assist victims and survivors of domestic violence with finding local programs who may be able to provide assistance. We are dedicated to bring awareness and assistant programs to our local community. We are available during business hours, Monday – Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm located at our OP SHOP in Logan Village, Hillcrest and Jimboomba. Defenders for Hope was set up to recognise domestic violence coalition, organizations and allied groups. Through our public policy, communications and capacity-building efforts, we align prevention and intervention strategies to advance social change.

What a wonderful way to bring the community together, have some Halloween fun AND help local people doing it tough. 💜
Funds raised through donations, drinks and the sausage sizzle will help Defenders for Hope continue supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence, homelessness and hardship across Logan and the Scenic Rim.

For some families in our community, Christmas brings the worry of how to put food on the table or a gift under the tree.

Could you help by adopting a family this Christmas?

Defenders for Hope’s Adopt a Family program is back, and we need caring individuals, families, workplaces and businesses to get involved.

🎁 By putting together a hamper of festive food and new, unwrapped toys, you can give a local family something precious — a Christmas to look forward to.

You could join forces with your colleagues, friends or neighbours and adopt a family together. Every contribution helps fill a hamper with kindness and hope. 💜

📅 Hampers and gifts must be delivered by 15 December.

🎄🎁 DEFENDERS FOR HOPE TOY DRIVE 2026 🎁🎄

Local businesses — could you make room for a Christmas donation box?

By hosting a toy collection box in your business, you can bring your staff and customers together to make Christmas brighter for children who need a little extra love. 💜

Last year, we gave over 300 children a reason to smile on Christmas morning. This year, the need is greater.

We’re supporting 8 shelters, families escaping violence, and children in foster care — making sure no one is left behind.

A simple gift can bring hope, comfort, and joy to a child who has lost so much.

No one should have to choose between paying the bills and putting food on the table.
One of the biggest challenges we're seeing across Logan and the Scenic Rim is the growing issue of food insecurity.
Every week, we meet working families, pensioners, people living with disabilities, and those escaping domestic and family violence who are struggling to afford the basics. These are people who never imagined they would need to ask for help, but the rising cost of groceries, housing and everyday living has placed many under enormous financial pressure.
At Defenders for Hope, our Foodbank outlets are open to everyone in the community. We provide affordable groceries and emergency food hampers to help ease some of that burden. However, even with the incredible support of Foodbank Queensland, we're finding it increasingly difficult to keep pace with the growing demand.
The Foodbank Hunger Report 2025 paints a sobering picture:
🥫 One in three Australian households experienced food insecurity in the past year.
🥫 One in five households skipped meals or went whole days without eating.
🥫 Single-parent families and households living with disability or chronic health conditions continue to be among those most affected.
Behind every statistic is a person, a family, a neighbour or a friend. Food insecurity doesn't discriminate, and it can affect anyone when unexpected circumstances arise.
Community organisations are working tirelessly to help, but demand continues to outgrow the food available. That's why ongoing support for food relief programs, local charities and community partnerships is so important.
Together, we can ensure fewer families face the impossible choice between keeping a roof over their heads and putting a meal on the table.
To everyone who donates food, volunteers their time, shops at our stores or supports Defenders for Hope in any way—thank you. Your kindness is helping feed our community and giving hope to those who need it most.

💔 No young person should have to face homelessness alone. 💔
Every week at Defenders for Hope, we meet young people aged 12–25 who have nowhere safe to go. Many have fled domestic and family violence, family breakdown, abuse or financial hardship, carrying little more than the clothes on their backs.
When someone walks through our doors, a Youth & Homeless Shield Pack can make all the difference.
Each duffle bag is filled with practical essentials to help them get through those first difficult days, including:

☀️ Sunscreen & bug repellent
🌧️ Water-resistant poncho

💧 Drink bottle
🧦 Socks, slides and other everyday essentials
These aren't just items... they're a message that says "Someone cares."
Sadly, our Shield Packs are in constant demand, and we need our community's help to keep them available.
