Join us for the 2025 JCU Law Seminar Series: The New ART – Same but Different? with Trent Glover SC, Senior Counsel & Adjunct Professor at JCU.

Discover the implications of one of the most significant recent reforms in federal administrative law with leading public law senior counsel and adjunct professor at JCU, Trent Glover SC. In this timely seminar, Trent will deliver explore the jurisdiction and procedures in the new Administrative Review Tribunal (ART). The ART replaced the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) in October 2024, and is intended to create a more user-focused, efficient and accessible system. Covering its broad jurisdiction, from social security and veterans’ entitlements to the NDIS and highlighting key procedural changes, Trent will explain what these reforms mean for practitioners, stakeholders and the public. Drawing on his extensive experience in the AAT and now the ART, Trent will provide practical insights you can apply immediately to Commonwealth tribunal work. This is an essential session for anyone seeking to stay ahead in the evolving administrative law landscape.

Submissions are now open for the Communications and Media Law Association’s essay competition ! 📝✨

This competition invites essay submissions on any media or communications law topic. Entries must be the original work of the author and between 1,000-3,000 words (excluding footnotes, annexures, attachments, and bibliographies). Students at all stages of their degree can submit an essay, including ones prepared for coursework assignments.

The top three entrants will receive cash prizes, mentorship opportunities and potential publication in the Communications Law Bulletin. They will also be invited to attend CAMLA’s End of Year Celebration in December.
Entries close: 31 October 2025 at 5:00pm.
