Recently our group was lucky enough to spend time with community elder Uncle Barry Watson who shared some fascinating stories of Slacks Creek.

What do you find most interesting?

• we surveyed 24 trees• the tallest tree was 4.3m high• 20 out of 24 trees had seed pods• almost every tree had new grow...

• the tallest tree was 4.3m high
• 20 out of 24 trees had seed pods
• almost every tree had new growth & very little dead branches
• 70% of trees had multiple branching stems which is typical of irbyana

We have a lot more trees to survey to get a full picture of how they are going, but these results so far are interesting!

something a bit different today - looking at the health of Melaleuca irbyana that were planted 6 years ago - we took measurements and had to match each tree with it’s mapped location which was a bit challenging! Everyone did an amazing job, we’ll share any interesting results soon!

great news everyone! Our group was successful in receiving a Logan City Council EnviroGrant for the next year, this will be to continue our creek restoration in Riverdale Park 🌱 yesterday some of our volunteers were at the Logan Eco Celebration to receive the award - thank you Stella, Satoko and Thomas!
