Thanks so much for visiting our group today, Kerrie, from Merino Country. We really appreciated your insight into the local garment and textile industry here in Logan.
We are hopeful of finding jobs in the industry in the near future, as well as building our own business with the talent that exists in our community and being harnessed through the Business traineeship, hosted by Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative, in partnership with Amani Community Centre Australia .
Owner of Merino Country, Kerrie, recently had the absolute joy of spending time with incredible women from the Amani Community Centre.
These talented ladies are part of a sewing traineeship program run by Nundah Community Enterprises Co-Operative, funded through Skilling Queenslanders for Work. They’re building valuable skills with a passion for creating - working towards employment opportunities or even starting their own small businesses.
It’s inspiring to see their passion for sewing and dedication and enthusiasm as they grow their confidence on domestic machines, with the next step being training on industrial equipment.
Let’s support and celebrate community, skill-building, and opportunity!
