We are so happy and proud to have had the pleasure of meeting with Federal Minister Anne Aly, who dropped in to our Centre, to hear stories of how Amani Community Centre is responding to the needs of our community, particularly in supporting women from migrant and refugee backgrounds who face complex barriers to employment.

Thanks to our partners, collaborators and supporters for helping us do what we do.

Thanks so much for visiting our group today, Kerrie, from Merino Country. We really appreciated your insight into the local garment and textile industry here in Logan.

We are hopeful of finding jobs in the industry in the near future, as well as building our own business with the talent that exists in our community and being harnessed through the Business traineeship, hosted by Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative, in partnership with Amani Community Centre Australia .

Owner of Merino Country, Kerrie, recently had the absolute joy of spending time with incredible women from the Amani Community Centre.

These talented ladies are part of a sewing traineeship program run by Nundah Community Enterprises Co-Operative, funded through Skilling Queenslanders for Work. They’re building valuable skills with a passion for creating - working towards employment opportunities or even starting their own small businesses.

It’s inspiring to see their passion for sewing and dedication and enthusiasm as they grow their confidence on domestic machines, with the next step being training on industrial equipment.

Let’s support and celebrate community, skill-building, and opportunity!

We are thankful to have been able to work closely with ECCQ - Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland and Nundah Community Enterprises Cooperative for the past 2+ years to strengthen our organisation to be able to deliver community-led programs aimed at addressing key issues in our local community.

This grant will help our organisation to employ a much-needed interpreter from the community to ensure program participants are able to engage fully in life-changing training programs aimed at overcoming barriers to employment and social isolation.
