🦕 Welcome to our Dino Land! The Wollemia Room.

The Wollemia pine is one of the world's oldest and rarest tree species, belonging to a 200 million-year-old plant family. Named after the Wollemia National Park, the pines were first discovered in the now heritage-listed Blue Mountains.
And what kid doesn’t like Dino’s?

At Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation, we feel respite and wellness spaces should feel as warm and welcoming as home, while still providing the extra care our children require. We spoke with parents, and together chose details to grow connection, spark joy, and support children with love and compassion. This room is positioned close to the nursing team, perfect for a younger and more complex child.

This room is floor hoist accessible, a single height adjustable bed, plenty of storage for belongings, and a fully accessible bathroom attached.

We can't wait to open our doors and share this special space with our community 💛

A heartfelt thank you for two new donations to Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation.

We’d like to say a warm thank you to Duncan from Imagination Toy Shop for his thoughtful donation of a beautiful wooden crane. It’s a lovely addition to our collection, and we’re grateful for the care and generosity behind it.

A special thank you also to Michael Lai, a compassionate supporter of The Peace Crane Project, and someone with such a beautiful gift for origami. Michael kindly sourced and donated two copies of The Complete Story of Sadako Sasaki and the Thousand Paper Cranes to the PCCF Library.

Sadako’s story continues to touch people in many ways. Having these books available means her story, and the message of peace that inspired us here at Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation, can continue to be shared with others.
We’re grateful to both Duncan and Michael for supporting our mission and for helping us keep the story and spirit of the peace cranes alive.
Thank you for your kindness and support. 💛

💛 The Waratah Room 💛

Like every room at Wattle Cottage, the Waratah room was named with purpose.

The Waratah flower is significant in the spiritual and cultural traditions of the indigenous people of southeastern Australia. This flower is all about healing, transformation, and vitality.

Every piece of equipment in the room has been donated. The space was created alongside real families, with the individuality, needs, and uniqueness of every child in mind. The Waratah room has ample storage, a height-adjustable sectioned bed, accommodation for floor hoist, and incredible natural light. There is also comfortable, fully reclined seating, thanks to the generosity of donating families to Wattle Cottage.

We’re excited for you to experience a place where care meets community.

Visit Wattle Cottage, get to know our mission, and help us continue creating a special place for families who need it most

This 11th-17th of October is Carers Week.
There are 3 million unpaid carers across Australia. We work so closely with the families who give this around-the-clock care to their loved ones, and this week we acknowledge their amazing and often unseen presence and endless love.

We’re a little behind, please check the first episode in their new webinar series from Carers Queensland, presented by Bec. Bec is a mother, carer, businesswoman, advocate, Cares Queensland ambassador, and our own board director. She shares her personal caring journey and practical advice for people who are new to a caring role.

Information, education, and community like this is so important. Incredible work from Carers Queensland and organisations across Australia.

To all incredible carers. We see you, and we’re there for you.

To recognise National Carers Week, we're excited to share the first webinar in our new series!

New to caring? You're not alone.

In this webinar, our Carer Ambassador, Bec shares her personal caring journey and practical advice for people who are new to a caring role.

You'll learn how to:

✅ Recognise and embrace your role as a carer
✅ Navigate services and support systems
✅ Advocate for yourself and the person you care for
✅ Build a strong support network
✅ Prioritise your own wellbeing

💗 Whether you're caring for a family member, friend or loved one with disability, chronic illness, mental ill health or age-related needs, this webinar can help you feel more confident, connected and supported in your caring journey.

People with disability may also find this webinar valuable, offering insights into the caring relationship and the supports available for both carers and those they care for.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day 💛 💛 💛
Today, and every day, we remember the babies who left us too soon and hold space for the families who carry their love and loss. 1 in 10 women globally experience perinatal loss. It is often unspoken about, isolating, and devastating, and there is no normal timeline for grieving. It’s the type of grief that lasts a lifetime.
Every baby matters. Every story matters. And every memory deserves to be treasured.

Creating tangible memories, such as memorial casts and keepsakes, can offer families something precious to hold on to. A physical connection to a little life that will forever be a part of their story.

We’re grateful to partner with such wonderful artists, who bring so much care and empathy to the Memory-Making project. Together we hope to acknowledge the loss families carry, remind them they are not alone, and offer support during an unimaginable time. 🧸🦋
Thank you Cast with love studio

These beautiful pearly white casts belong to beautiful baby M, who sadly passed away not long after birth. 🤍

Losing a baby is something no family ever plans for, and in the midst of unimaginable grief, the financial cost of creating meaningful keepsakes can add another layer of stress for families who simply want something tangible to remember their precious baby by.

Thankfully, on this occasion, the incredible team at Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation | Family Support stepped forward and generously funded these casts for Baby M’s family. 🤍
