Last Thursday afternoon we were invited to attend the Kawana Waters State College Interact Club planning session to talk with their members and share what our clubs have been up to. It was a great experience meeting fellow young Rotarians and a big thank you to Anne and the College for inviting us :)

Later that evening we welcomed guest speaker Vicki Stewart from Mooloolaba Rotary to our fortnightly meeting to talk about the annual Lift the Lid Walk for Mental Health movement that she started over a decade ago. She shared with our members the story behind the walk; how it has grown into the event it is today, and how all money raised from the event goes straight back into mental health research funding to help support those in need. She also shared some shocking statistics and observations about youth mental health in Australia that led to discussions in the room about the importance of mental health support. Thank you Vicki for coming along to chat with us :)

Finally, on Saturday afternoon we joined Mooloolaba Rotary with managing the car parking at the Immanuel Lutheran College Fruehlingfest.

Our regular fortnightly meeting last Thursday took on a different format than usual. We held a social event with our members at the Mooloolaba Rotary Park in Mooloolaba, where Chef Xavier cooked up a classic Australian meal: sausages on bread. It was a great afternoon despite the threat of rain nearly derailing our plans earlier in the day.
As a growing club, we have decided to take on a new meeting format: One fortnightly meeting will be a social outing like this meeting, and then our next meeting will focus on professional development for our members (guest speakers, volunteer activity planning, etc), before cycling back to another social meeting two weeks later. We think this is a great way of providing value to our members while also keeping everyone engaged as we continue to grow one member at a time :)
We also celebrated receiving our Rotaract lapel pins, which were handed out to each member as a formal sign of club membership.

Last night at our general meeting we welcomed Mooloolaba Rotary President Sandra (not pictured) and Rotary Club of Pine Rivers President Darren (right) as guests. We also welcomed three potential new members: Nina (left), Paige (middle right) and Thomas (not pictured), and we also welcomed Pelle, a Mooloolaba Rotary Youth Exchange Student (not pictured). Sandra discussed potential designs for our Rotaract dinner badges and shared some information regarding a few Mooloolaba Rotary volunteering activities that we can participate in over the coming months, as well as some information regarding the Rotary “Say No to Domestic Violence” campaign, while Darren shared his vision and goals for his own Pine Rivers club as the new President for the 2025/26 year, as well as what inspired him to join Rotary. Both of our Presidential guests presented some very insightful information and we want to give a big thank you to Darren for making the trip up to the Coast to attend our meeting. Our President Noah then reported that we will be able volunteer at the CAYAC Op-Shop in Maroochydore once a month, with the potential to volunteer more often when the club’s membership grows. This is a very exciting time for our provisional club as this marks our first regular volunteering activity in the local community, and is proof that we’re finally starting to grow as a club.
