46% of Neighbourhood Houses have been operating at a loss for three years.

This is not sustainable for the sector and a solution cannot wait. We need an urgent boost to funding to keep our communities connedted.

It's sunflower season again and if you would like a FREE packet of Sunbird Sunflower seeds pop in and see us at 11 Jayarra Street, Simpson. One pack per household limit so we have enough to go around. Lets put the sun into Simpson and grow those sunflowers.

With September only a few days away it is time to showcase what's on Wednesdays for that month. We start with Having a Yarn, a social day for anyone who knits, crochets or yarns in anyway. The second Wednesday is Jar Candle Pouring, a beginners workshop for anyone interested. The third Wednesday is our monthly Arternoon for all the drawers, painters and artists in the community. For those who love to write and read the fourth Wednesday is for you with Writers Group followed by the Book Discussion Group. Septembers book is "Where the Crawdads Sing" and we have a copy here for anyone interested. Any questions feel free to give us a call.

Hard to believe if has been 70 years since they commenced clearing the Heytesbury Settlement, originally planning to clear 70,000 acres. The Settlement sign seen here was on Muirden's block. If anyone can name the other locations feel free to comment. A lot of the old photos have no dates or locations.

Simpson Playgroup is the place to be on a Tuesday if you have toddlers. Lots of toys to share, fun to be had and some interactive learning activities. Fun for every one. 10.30-12.30 at the Early Childhood Learning Centre.

Have you signed the petition yet. Neighbourhood Houses are in dire need of extra funding to ensure sustainability going forward.

Please sign Neighbourhood Houses Victoria Petition to government to see funding to Neighbourhood Houses increased. Around half, including us, are running at a loss, which is not a sustainable funding model. We are asking for a 25% increase to ensure vital programs can continue to run, especially in small rural areas where other funding opportunities are reduced.
