Meat Pack Emergency Relief — Karamoja, Uganda 🇺🇬

Due to a failed wet season, the Karamoja region of Uganda is facing a sever drought and food shortage, causing nearly half the region’s population to become food insecure.
Since 30 September, ARO has provided emergency food relief to families in the Karamoja region of Uganda, where communities face limited access to nutritious sources of protein.

As part of this relief effort:
🥩 2,000+ families supported
🐄 50 cows slaughtered
📍 Karamoja, Uganda

Each family received a meat pack, providing an important source of protein and nutrition during a difficult period.

Through this initiative, ARO was able to bring essential food relief directly to more than 2,000 families across the region.

💧 Water for Sirsiron Primary School

Sirsiron Primary School in Kenya had a borehole — but during the dry season, it would run dry.

With no reliable water source nearby, students were forced to travel over a kilometre to the river, taking valuable time away from their classrooms and studies just to collect water.

Thanks to the generosity of the boys of Amity College, ARO has helped provide a new waterwell at the school — bringing reliable access to water directly to the students.

A well can mean more than water. It can mean more time in the classroom, fewer hours spent walking, and more opportunity to learn.

Thank you to the students of Amity College for turning their fundraising into something that will serve an entire school community. 🇰🇪💧

For many children, walking several kilometres isn’t exercise — it’s the daily journey to find water.

This 1 November, we’re walking and riding so they can drink.

Join Australian Relief Organisation and Advocates for Dignity across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth & Adelaide and turn your kilometres into clean, safe water for communities in Africa, Asia and here in Australia.

Our goal: raise $60,000 to build sustainable water wells and support a clean water project for a regional Australian school. Every step and every kilometre brings us closer.

🚴‍♂️ Tomorrow, the journey begins.

After months of preparation, our riders are ready to begin the Orphans of the World Charity Ride — an 8-day journey from Sydney to Melbourne covering approximately 1,100 km.

But this ride is about more than the distance.

Every kilometre is being ridden to support 20 orphaned students, helping provide them with education, accommodation and wellbeing support.

So far, we’ve raised $22,000, with another $14,000 needed to reach our goal.

The road ahead won’t be easy, but every kilometre brings us closer to giving these students greater opportunities for their future.

🌎 World Humanitarian Day 2026

On 19 August, the Australian Relief Organisation team joined the Humanitarian and Development Research Initiative (HADRI) at Western Sydney University and the United Nations Association of Australia – NSW Division to mark World Humanitarian Day and explore the future of humanitarian action.

The event brought together humanitarian leaders, researchers and community organisations for a keynote address from Assistant Minister Andrew Charlton MP, an expert panel, a Humanitarian Expo and an Innovation Pitch focused on tackling real humanitarian challenges.

We were especially proud to see our team member Ayesha Ikhtiar represent ARO in the Innovation Pitch, where she was awarded 2nd place for her presentation. 🏆

Congratulations to Ayesha, and thank you to Nidhi D Wali, Sahera Sumar, Darleen Shrubb and everyone at HADRI, WSU and UNAA NSW for bringing the humanitarian community together.

This September, ARO is proud to support the Orphans of the World Charity Ride — a 1,091 km journey from Sydney to Melbourne with one purpose: raising $36,000 to support 20 orphaned students for one year.

The funds raised will help provide education, accommodation and wellbeing support, giving these children greater opportunities to build a brighter future.
