We had a group of 32 Probians travel by coach to the Buderim Pioneer Cottage for our May Visit and Tour, very well organised by our Visits & Tours Officer Ruth.

Buderim's House Museum Pioneer Cottage has been owned by the community and managed by the Buderim Historical Society since 1966. It is heritage listed and represents a fine example of late 19th century design using pit-sawn and hand crafted local rainforest and hardwood timbers.

The Cottage stands where it was built behind Buderim's main street, Burnett St. in about 1882. John Burnett and his wife Ann and 8 children lived in this four-roomed house, with 2 upstairs rooms added to accommodate their growing family.

In 1952 it was purchased by local school teacher Sybil Vise who subsequently gifted it to the community to be used as a museum.

Our April tour was to the Port of Brisbane. We had a record number of 51 Probians including 6 members from Taigum Probus Club join us on our coach tour. We were all astounded at the huge size of the port, the large number of containers being stored as well as the large number of cars and heavy machinery being stored at the port, awaiting delivery to various destinations throughout Queensland.

Our April Men's lunch was well attended at the recently renovated Prince of Wales Hotel, Nundah. The menu offered a good variety of food choices which everyone enjoyed. We also enjoyed each other's company so much that the lunch carried on for 3 hours. One of our best lunches so far.
