Ardi Stoios-Braken has been Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Australia since 2023 and she called into the C4GS office with Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell MP to chat with our team about all the things making Greater Shepparton unique.
The Ambassador said the Australian economy was transitioning from ‘digging and shipping’ to an economy based on knowledge and innovation with sustainability and innovation playing an important part in this.
She said Dutch companies had a head start in this area, so there were some real opportunities to explore.
C4GS CEO Linda Nieuwenhuizen said meeting the Ambassador was a lovely reminder that you can cherish the country where you were born and raised, while also valuing the countries and cultures that shaped your family heritage.
"You can be proud of both. This is a feeling that so many people in Shepparton know well and experience every day," Linda said.
Alongside discussing our deep economic ties and opportunities for future knowledge sharing, football (soccer ☺️) was a fun part of the conversation, from the local Dutch community’s role in establishing Shepparton’s early clubs to the way the world game continues to unite diverse communities here and across the globe.
