🌿 What a transformation! 🌿
What started as a road safety project has become a space the whole community can be proud of.
A huge thank you to every single volunteer who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to bring this Streets Alive grant project to life. This project was made possible through a grant secured by the Secret Harbour Town Team, with the aim of tackling the ongoing issue of illegal parking in the No Parking zone at the rear of Secret Harbour Primary School.
Cars parking in this area were blocking the view of drivers exiting the car park, creating a serious safety concern during the busy school drop-off and pick-up times. With the improvements now complete, vehicles can no longer park there, making the area much safer for everyone.
But we wanted to do more than just improve safety—we wanted to create a welcoming community space.
Together we have:
🌱 Landscaped and beautified the area with new plants and mulch.
🎨 Created a vibrant mural featuring important road safety messages.
🚸 Repainted the zebra crossing to improve visibility.
🌿 Trimmed overgrown bushes to improve sightlines.
⚡ Refreshed the electrical power boxes with a fresh coat of paint.
🪑 Created a more inviting place where parents can sit, wait for their children and connect with one another.
It truly shows what can be achieved when a community comes together.
There are just a few finishing touches to come, including adding the final road safety messages to the mural, the installation of an additional No Parking sign by the City of Rockingham, and replacing the safety rails at the zebra crossing.
We hope this project not only makes our school environment safer but also encourages neighbours to slow down, say hello, and enjoy this shared community space.
Thank you again to everyone who volunteered, supported the project, donated their time, and cheered us on. We couldn’t have done it without you. 💚
