💛🌟 Sea Lake’s Biggest Morning Tea Raises Over $1,200 for Cancer Research 💛🌟
Sea Lake residents showed their generosity, with the Biggest Morning Tea proving a tremendous success on Wednesday, May 27.
Hosted by Sea Lake Neighbourhood House in partnership with Tyrrell College Year 9 Active Volunteering and Year 10 Work Related Skills students, the event trialled a new approach this year, offering pre-ordered morning tea packs delivered throughout the community, while also selling additional packs at the Sea Lake Apex Park.
The response exceeded expectations, with 98 morning tea packs pre-ordered and additional packs snapped up on the day, resulting in a complete sell-out well before the end of the event.
Thanks to the incredible support of the local community, businesses, schools and kindergarten/playgroup, the event raised an impressive $1,276 which will be donated to the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea campaign to support cancer research, prevention programs and support services for Australians affected by cancer.
Each morning tea pack featured a delicious selection of sandwiches, slices and cakes, generously prepared by Tyrrell College students and community members, with students also helping to pack and deliver orders throughout the community.
A special thank you also goes to The Juke, who generously supported the fundraiser by donating $1 from every coffee sold throughout the morning.
The Biggest Morning Tea is one of Australia's largest community fundraising events and has been helping raise vital funds for cancer research and support services for more than 30 years. With almost every family and community touched by cancer in some way, the cause resonated strongly with local residents.
Sea Lake Neighbourhood House would like to sincerely thank everyone who purchased a morning tea pack, donated food, volunteered their time, or supported the event in any way.
The willingness of the community to get behind the fundraiser ensured its success and demonstrated the generosity and community spirit that Sea Lake is well known for.
Following the overwhelming response, organisers are already considering how the event might continue to grow in future years.
