Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre

Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre SNRC and Community Pantry is a not-for-profit group assisting the most vulnerable in the community.

The organisation opened its doors from the Mare and Foal Mall moving a few years later to be co-located with the Scone Library in Kelly Street. As the services grew and with the need for additional space the service relocated in 2000 into the offices behind their existing location. The service has two part time employees and a full time Manager, as well as a team of volunteers to run the many prog

rams that are available to for the community. In January 2010 the Neighbourhood Centre were provided access to a shop front location. The move to 130 Liverpool Street the old Council Building provided a visual impact and one that would allow the Centre to grow. Once again we have grown, developed and moved into a fresh new location at 89 Kelly Street, Scone. The Neighbourhood Centre has established a service that generates its own income to run varied programs for the community.

The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre and the Scone Community Pantry have been working for several years to secure an accessible, purpose‑built pantry to safely store the food we distribute to individuals and families doing it tough. Despite our best efforts through grant applications and sponsorship requests, we haven’t yet been successful.

So, we’re giving our community a chance to help directly by launching a GoFundMe.

Every donation, no matter how big or small brings us one step closer to creating a pantry that meets the needs of the people who rely on us. Your support will help us turn a long‑held plan into a reality and ensure we can continue providing dignity, stability, and essential food relief to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with us and helping build a stronger, more accessible community resource.

HOMELESSNESS WEEK 2026
At 6:30 every morning, Michael folded his blanket, packed his few belongings into an old backpack and waited for the building to open. He wasn’t lazy. He wasn’t dangerous. He was simply exhausted. A year earlier he had been working full-time, renting a small unit and visiting his grandchildren every second weekend. Then his rent increased, his casual hours were cut, and when his car broke down, getting to work became impossible. Within months, he had lost both his job and his home.

Most people who walked past never looked twice. Some assumed he had made bad choices. What they didn’t know was that Michael spent every day trying to find work, charging his phone wherever he could, showering at the Neighbourhood centre, and wondering how long he could keep pretending everything was okay when he spoke to his family.

One cold morning, a café owner walked outside with a bacon and egg roll and a hot coffee. “No charge,” she said with a smile. Michael’s eyes filled with tears not because of the food, but because someone had looked at him and seen a person instead of a problem. It was the first time in weeks that someone had called him by his name.

The truth is that homelessness rarely begins on the street. It often starts with one unexpected bill, a relationship breakdown, illness, family violence, the loss of a job, or housing that simply becomes unaffordable. For many Australians, the gap between coping and homelessness is far smaller than we realise.

This Homelessness Week, let’s remember that behind every statistic is a person with a story, hopes for the future, and a life that matters. Kindness changes a moment. Understanding changes attitudes. Action changes lives.

Thank You! 💙
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Fundraising Auction on Saturday night.
While it was a smaller gathering, it was filled with some of the biggest supporters of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre. Your generosity, encouragement and community spirit made the evening truly special.
We are thrilled with the response with every dollar going towards supporting the vital services and programs we provide to individuals and families in our community.
To our incredible volunteers, dedicated staff and Committee members – thank you for your hard work before, during and after the event. We simply couldn’t do it without you.
A very special thank you also goes to the many local businesses, organisations and community groups who so generously donated auction items. Your kindness and willingness to support us made this fundraiser possible, and we are incredibly grateful for your ongoing commitment to our community.
Together, you are helping us continue to provide support, hope and practical assistance to those who need it most.
From all of us at the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre – thank you for believing in what we do. Your support truly makes a difference. 💙

💙 Homelessness Week 2026 | 3–9 August 💙

This week, we join communities across Australia to recognise Homelessness Week 2026, with this year’s important theme:

More than 122,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness. Behind every number is a person, a family, a young person, or an older Australian facing challenges that no one should have to face alone.

Homelessness isn’t always visible. It can affect people sleeping rough, living in cars, couch surfing, or staying in temporary accommodation while trying to rebuild their lives.

At the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre, we see firsthand how important it is to offer support, compassion, and practical assistance. Together, we can raise awareness, strengthen our community, and advocate for long-term solutions, including more affordable and social housing.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

Let’s stand together this Homelessness Week and support Homelessness Action Now.

💙❤️

Tomorrow night is our Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre Fundraising Auction, and we would love to see you there.

Every item up for auction has been generously donated by people and businesses who understand the work we do and believe in supporting our community. Their kindness makes this event possible.

Every dollar raised helps our dedicated staff and volunteers continue supporting individuals and families who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Homelessness, financial hardship, food insecurity, family crisis, illness or unexpected life events can happen to anyone. Most people never expect to find themselves needing help, yet a series of circumstances can quickly change everything.

At the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre, we are here to listen without judgement, offer practical support, and help people put the pieces back together, one step at a time. Sometimes it’s a food hamper, sometimes it’s guidance, sometimes it’s simply knowing that someone cares.

When you come along, bid on an item, or simply show your support, you are making a real difference in the lives of people in our own community.

We sincerely hope you’ll join us.
