Last week, our WTAW Student Leaders had the incredible opportunity to visit AGL’s Bayswater Power Station, where they sat down with members of the AGL leadership team to talk about what leadership and wellbeing can look like in the workplace.
The day included honest conversations about leadership, career journeys, mistakes, challenges and aspirations for the future, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of Bayswater Power Station to learn how electricity is generated and the incredible variety of roles involved in keeping the site operating.
But perhaps the most valuable part of the day was what our students took away from the experience.
💬 “It’s okay to make mistakes — everyone’s human. Never give up on your goals and your dreams.”
💬 “Being a leader isn’t just about being the loudest in the room. It’s about what you do when no one’s watching.”
💬 “It gave me confidence to talk to people and ask questions regarding their jobs and their biggest career accomplishments.”
💬 “It was valuable hearing from people who have become such important leaders.”
💬 “I gained a lot of knowledge from having group conversations about leadership and the tour around the station.”
A big thank you to AGL and the Bayswater team for welcoming our Student Leaders and investing time in the next generation of leaders. We’re proud to see these young people continuing to learn, grow and share their voices.
