Something unexpected is happening at Scone Museum.
For the past twelve months, resident artist Anna Fraser has been quietly working away in the historic Scone Lock-up — researching the museum's remarkable collection, interviewing community members, and uncovering the hidden stories of the Upper Hunter.
On Sunday 21 June at 1pm, the doors of the old jail cell will open to reveal Time Portal — an immersive digital installation weaving together light, sound and animation to bring local history to life.
Also, on display — animations created by local students and young people from the wider community during workshops with Anna Fraser. Seeing young people engage with their local history in such a creative way has been one of the highlights of this project.
State Member Dave Layzell MP will officially open the installation.
Join them for the opening and stay for a community BBQ. Free entry — everyone welcome.
RSVP: timeportallaunch.my.canva.site or contact Suzannah Jones on 0447 813 327 / [email protected]
Following the launch, Time Portal will remain on permanent display at Scone Museum, accessible during normal opening hours. Visitors are encouraged to contact the museum to arrange a visit.
Scone Museum, 43-47 Kingdon St, Scone
Normally open: Wednesdays 9.30am to 2.30pm and Sundays 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Time Portal is a Case Collective project — immersive artist Anna Fraser and creative producer Suzannah Jones — supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
