Members of both our congregations at Watermans Bay and Scarborough bring non-perishable food items to our churches each Sunday and this is taken to Uniting Aid as ongoing support all year. The content of the printed service relates to the needs of the country that has prepared the service. A PowerPoint of pictures and information on the country is shown in the service, with morning/afternoon tea to follow the service. This service has been hosted by various churches in the area so is another Ecumenical event. It will be held at our Uniting Church in Scarborough next year 2022 and is always held on the first Friday in March each year. Further details on this service will be available in the new year. Scarborough Church is proud of our rose garden which is tended by two members of our congregation. 12,205,900 Shoeboxes Collected Globally in 2025!

Message from Samaritan's Purse:

God continues to be faithful to use Operation Christmas Child and The Greatest Journey to open doors for Gospel outreach in places where most people have never heard about the eternal hope of Jesus Christ. Children around the world are coming to faith in Jesus and sharing the Good News with family and friends. As they do, communities are being transformed by God’s love, and churches are being started.

This ministry would not be possible without the thousands of volunteers and hundreds of churches, schools, community groups, families and individuals who donate gift-filled shoeboxes. Each shoebox is an expression of love and shares the hope of the Gospel with children in need. We are thankful for your partnership and wanted to share the impact of your involvement.

Lent Event 2026
This Lent, stand with families on the front line of changing climate.

During Lent, join congregations from across Australia as we share in what God is doing among our neighbours fighting poverty and the impacts of climate change.

UnitingWorld has created a range of simple, meaningful resources to support you this Lent:

● A weekly story and prayer for each Sunday in Lent to use in worship.
● The 40 for the Future Challenge, a practical, all-ages fundraising activity that combines care for creation with compassion for communities facing climate disruption.
● A UnitingWorld speaker to visit your church and share stories from our partners.

Places are limited and fill quickly.

Christmas isn't always a time of joy and celebration, especially for those who have recently lost loved ones, or are feeling disconnected from family and friends at this time.
Some of our congregations offer a special ‘Blue Christmas’ style service, which are usually more reflective in nature, allowing people to take some time out of the busyness of the season for quiet prayer, reflection and remembrance.
You can search for Blue Christmas services using the search function on our Christmas event calendar - click on the 'Filter by Event Category' panel and select 'Blue Christmas' - https://unitingchurchwa.org.au/christmas/
