Co-Club Captains become RWC operators!

Well done to both of our co-club captains who through 2026 were selected and completed their RWC (Rescue Water Craft) qualifications!

Tempest completed the course earlier in May at both Waratah and Inverloch whilst Sunday wrapped up her training this recent weekend over on the west coast in Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove.

Both Waratah members went through the full application and interview process alongside lifesavers across the state and with their strong volunteer experience of hundreds of patrol hours per season, holding all of the base awards and being all round fantastic lifesavers they proved they can take their journey to the next level.

Well done to you both,
You have represented the Waratah Beach SLSC well and we’re looking forward to seeing you patrolling on the water across the Victorian coastline!

🧹 WORKING BEE & PRE-SEASON GEAR CHECK: SUNDAY 1 NOVEMBER! 🛟

Reminder, legends! Summer’s almost here, and we need all hands on deck to get Waratah Beach SLSC sparkling for the season. ☀️🌊

Here’s the plan:

🧹 Sweep out the sheds and send the cobwebs packing
🛟 Check over all our gear and equipment
⚓ Get everything shipshape for patrols and Nippers

Bring along: gloves, closed-toe shoes, a hat, a water bottle, and your best “I was born to use a broom” energy 💪

Many hands make light work, and there’ll be snacks, laughs and good company (plus maybe a rogue spider or two 🕷️😅).

Come for an hour or stay the whole morning. Every bit helps! See you there 🙌

🍻 CALLING ALL WARABAR SUPPORTERS! 🍻

A massive thank you to everyone who volunteers behind the Warabar last season.
Post-patrol drinks, Any night catch-ups and post big beach-day celebrations all happen because of you! 🙌

To keep the Warabar pouring, we need people with a current RSA certificate on site whenever we serve alcohol.

⏰ RSA certificates last 3 years. If you did yours around three years ago, including at our on-site course, it's time for a refresher!

✅ Head to the LCV Learning Hub: learninghub.liquor.vic.gov.au
✅ Create an account (if you don't have one)
✅ Register with your RSA certificate number and complete the refresher

Can't find your certificate number? Call LCV on 1300 182 457 (quickest) or email [email protected]

Once you're done, send a your name and acopy of your new certificate to [email protected] 📩

We've got a date! Our pre-season Working Bee and Gear Inspection is on:
Sunday 1st November 0900

Waratah Beach SLSC
Summer is nearly here, and it's time to get the club shipshape. On the day we'll be:
Sweeping out and tidying the sheds
Checking over all our gear and equipment getting ready for the official Gear Inspection
Making sure everything is ready for the patrol season
What to bring: Gloves, closed-toe shoes, a water bottle and a hat.
Many hands make light work. If everyone gives an hour or two, we'll be done in no time, and there'll be snacks and plenty of laughs along the way.

The Waratah Beach SLSC Nippers Program is an intensive program run over two weeks after Christmas at the Sandy Point Surf Beach. The short length of our program means that our main focus is on surf education and having fun.
