5th Sandringham Scout Group - Public Page

5th Sandringham Scout Group - Public Page Scouting is a volunteer organisation, made up of generous leaders and parent helpers who make Scoutin

If you want to become a Scout, you are accepting a challenge to plunge into action. You could find yourself exploring a mountain wilderness, helping in emergency rescues, operating a radio station, photographing wild animals, sending coded messages, searching for gold, canoeing down a river, camping in the bush, recording your own songs or sailing across the ocean with the salt spray in your face.

Scouting gives you the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of exciting activities. It also gives you the greatest opportunity of all - the opportunity to develop real friendships by sharing the experiences of learning, growing and exploring the world with others. Best of all, you might get to take part in a Jamboree - a huge camp with over 10,000 other Scouts for two weeks. You'll do so much stuff it's too much to mention - HUGE fun!

5th Sandringham Scouts wishes the whole world joy and peace. We have had a wonderful year being our 100th and are looking forward to our 101 year next year. Our leaders Jane, Peter, Steve, Clare, Janis, Niraj and Henry have had a wonderful time dedicating themselves to support our youth. Their success is its own reward as we support them challenging themselves and learning how to be remarkable citizens. They never cease to amaze us.
We hope you have enjoyed seeing some of our work while developing our sensory and indigenous garden. We recently added more insect hotels and possum boxes and will continue to grow this. This year we have cooked, camped, made Swedish torches, water filters, Di Vinci bridges, wooden gadgets, recycling artworks, developed our 1st aid, made rock people, hiked, biked, zorbed, abseiled, canoed, kayaked, flew our hot air balloons, climbed, performed, picked up loads of litter, had 10 sausage sizzles, participated, lead, discovered, laughed, sung, created, learned and grown.
If your recycling bin is getting full we love your 10c container deposit scheme cans and bottles. Our tubs are back along our fence line. It has been lovely receiving your donations and we thank you all for your support.
Our Scout Group is strong and supported by so many in the community. Highett Community Banking has supported our Peak Award Winners Ava, Ethan, Emily, Eesa, Ishani. We are very proud of them for achieving this. Highett Community Bank has also supplied us with a defibrillator and are recovering our leaking camping trailers for us which will look amazing. Make sure you give us a wave when you see them.
Highett Community Bank supports our values and our Bayside Community would not be flourishing so well if it didn’t have their consistent support. They spread it across so many great community groups that are all trying to make a positive impact. Let’s all let them know we don’t take this for granted.
Bayside City Council really do raise the bar and set the tone for our great community participation. Their extensive grant program supports and encourages groups and helps them achieve more. This year they are supporting new flags and signage for our hall. Let us know what you think, they will be up soon.
Watch us in 2026, we cant wait!

We recently had the joy of gifting the 5th Sandringham Scouts Group with a defibrillator 💓

Scouting brings young people together, creates belonging, and reflects the values we care about most. This group is such a welcoming part of our community and a great local asset.

The defib is part of our (almost) 25 year story. Thanks to local people who choose us for their banking, Community Bank Highett has given back 3.95 million dollars to our community!

Here is to safe, connected, community spaces for everyone.

This morning, our Chief Commissioner, Rod Byrnes, and youth member Sasha appeared live on ABC News to speak about the national social media changes and the growing interest in Scouting as families look for real-world connection and fun.

Scouting gives young people the chance to get outdoors, build confidence, try new things and be part of a supportive community. With the new rules beginning today, there has never been a better time to choose adventure.

Proud to see our youth and Leaders representing Scouting so brilliantly.
