Mortimer Bay Reserve southern end. Wish Iโ€™d filmed longer as the bird sounds were pretty.

Following up on the previous post hereโ€™s a birds eye view of the multi-user trails within Roscommon, Lauderdale. Itโ€™s not entirely accurate, X shows entrances, there are also smaller entrances off Terrina St and Balook St for closer access to the separate wetlands walking tracks.
Horse riders: If not a TEC member the closest designated horse float parking is in Acton Court, Acton Park where there are also 3 large horse yards and access to water, or wherever you feel itโ€™s safe to unload and saddle etc. (One yard had rail damage from being burned, will check if it has been fixed.)Please leave loading areas clean. There are linking trails through from Acton Court with a small section of road nearer Lauderdale if using Roches Beach Rd.

Recently completed:
A 4.2km fenced loop track around the entire perimeter of Roscommon.
Also the track within Roscommon that runs between the Tas Equestrian Centre and the Hobart Archers Club was graded to remove the rough bumps and potholes.
New signage at the Ringwood Road entry and at intersections that lack signage will be installed over the next couple of months. Council will do more plantings in autumn.
Thank you to Mary McParland (CCC Recreation Planner - Trails and Cycleways). This loop was discussed a long, long time ago and it is exciting when a new one is able to be approved and completed.

Mortimer Bay reserve will be closed on Saturday 10 January due to a total fire ban and high winds. Signs are up on the entrances today and will be removed on Sunday morning.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Reserve closures โ€“ Saturday, 10 January ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Several of our reserves will be closed on Saturday due to a total fire ban declared by the Tasmanian Fire Service.

The ban is due to expected strong winds of up to 100 km/h, increasing the risk of severe weather conditions and high fire danger.

Closures are necessary to keep the community safe and reduce the risk of accidental fires. Signage will be in place at all affected sites.

The following reserves will be closed:

๐Ÿšซ Pilchers Hill, Geilston Bay and Lindisfarne
๐Ÿšซ Waverley Flora Park, Howrah and Mornington
๐Ÿšซ Bedlam Walls, Geilston Bay
๐Ÿšซ Mortimer Bay Coastal Reserve, Sandford

Photo sent by a trail user. A sign shouldn't be required for something that is common sense. However some people obviously don't value our precious environment anyway. We are so lucky to have these areas accessible for us to enjoy. Please respect them. Mortimer Bay Reserve southern entrance.

The temporary track closure info is on the fence as you enter the Mortimer Bay Coastal Trail from the southern carpark. Detour signs are near the carpark, at Tradewinds intersection on Gellibrand Drv, and Sabre link both entrances.
