We’re recycling superstars! ♻️

We were excited to welcome Megan to kindy recently, who introduced us to the Containers for Change program!

We learned that recyclable containers like cans and bottles can be collected and returned to help reduce waste and raise funds for our kindergarten. A wonderful lesson in looking after our environment and our community. 🌿💚

Over the past week, our Samford Kindy community recognised National Reconciliation Week by reading “Say Yes” - a beautiful story about the 1967 Referendum, told through the eyes of a child.

The story shares a message of hope, friendship and kindness, and sparked meaningful conversations with the children. Inspired by the book, they each created a colourful “happy hand” to add to our display.

At Samford Kindy, we value and celebrate Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. We love creating opportunities for children to learn about the rich histories, stories and traditions that make our community so diverse and special.

Our Samford Kindergarten open day is this weekend and we’ve been busily preparing to welcome visitors.

Families from this year’s kindy group rolled up their sleeves for a working bee to help get everything looking s***k and span for our visitors this weekend. From gardening to tidying to a fresh little spruce-up here and there, it was such a lovely reminder of the community spirit that makes Samford Kindy so special.

Our gates will be open from 9-11am this Saturday, 30 May. We hope to see you there! 👋🏻

This week at Samford Kindy, we celebrated our mums and special people with a very glamorous afternoon of pampering, complete with manicures, makeovers and plenty of smiles. 💅🏻💄✨

The children also had so much fun hand-painting terracotta pots and choosing their favourite blooms to plant as a special gift for Mum. 🌷

We were so lucky to welcome Tidda T from “Indigenous Insights” to Samford Kindy recently!

Tidda T, a proud Wiradjuri Gamilaraay woman, talked to us about First Nations Culture and introduced the children to tools used for hunting and gathering food, along with the language and culture of her people. We even learned about First Nations music and dance, using our moments to depict native animals including an emu and kangaroo. 🦘

Thank you Tidda T for this wonderful experience and for sharing your culture with us.
