We provide fun youth development activities, building resilient and confident youths aged 5 to 25. Samford Scout Group prepares young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring youth program. We are growing, are more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our community. There has never been a better time for youths and adults to get p

hysically and mentally active with Scouts - which is all about fun, friendships and 'learning by doing'. At Samford Scout Group, we provide young persons aged 5 to 25 with enjoyable and challenging opportunities to grow through new adventure. With youth and adult members from various backgrounds and with varying abilities, Scouts the largest and most successful youth organisation in Queensland and the world. The long established Samford Scout Group is one of the largest Scout groups as we are in a wonderful part of Queensland where we can all explore adventure in our own amazing local outdoor environment. Today’s Scouts can take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bush craft, through to more extreme challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, rock climbing, sailing and even flying! Scouts also have the opportunity to become involved in performing arts, leadership development, community service, amateur radio operation, environmental projects, large-scale Australian events such as Cuborees, Jamborees and Ventures, international events, and service projects in developing countries. At Samford Scout Group, we put the needs of young people first. Our youth led, adult supported approach ensures that we contribute to the education of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. We hire our buildings and facilities for events, meetings, exercise classes, animal training, arts and drama - for many community uses. Check out our website for pictures and information.

Volunteering with Scouts is your chance to step into something bigger without leaving your everyday life behind. Support young people, grow your own skills and be part of the adventure.

You are a parent, a partner, a professional…. but there is more to you than your everyday roles. Volunteering with Scouts Queensland is a chance to meet the other you – to explore your strengths, learn new skills and rediscover a side of yourself you may have forgotten or you have not previously had the opportunity to explore.

While volunteering provides substantial benefits to our young people and to our communities, importantly it also provides significant benefits to our volunteers and can be great fun!

This morning, 25 April, Scouts, families and friends of the Samford Scout Group gathered at the Samford Avenue of Honour for the Samford ANZAC March and ceremony. This is Australia’s most significant national occasion, marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces in 1915. It commemorates the sacrifice of over 103,000 Australians who died in all conflicts and honors the service of all veterans, fostering national identity and reflection on the human cost of war. The service commenced after the flyover of two WW1 era biplanes, shaking their wings as either by pilot input or wind gusts. The MC reflected on how his early life was so well shaped by his time as a member of the Sea Scouts and how the scouting experience carried him onto greater achievements in his life. He also mentioned the importance of people volunteering to help their local community groups and the satisfaction that brings. (No, I didn’t help write his speech). Rover Lilly and Joey Elka laid our group wreath and the Cubs laid a special one of their own. Upon the completion of the service, the Joeys shared the mountain of delicious ANZAC cookies with all, that they had baked on Thursday. We were blessed with dry weather until 20 minutes after the completion of the service, when the rain arrived. Thank you to everyone who attended today including parents, families and our many supporters. Samford Scout Group - Providing Skills For Life

The Scout Section is for young people aged 11–14 years and we have vacancies for a few new scouts now. Scouts develop more complex outdoor skills in a fun and active environment.
The Scouts section offers an amazing variety of activities designed to teach important life skills to get Scouts social and active! Scouts can:

- Experience big changes
- Explore their changing sense of self
- Focus more on peer networks
- Help the transition from primary to secondary school
- Find new ways to express themselves
- Explore and form their personal identity.
Scouts, as a section, focuses on allowing young people to develop their confidence and teaches them how to work as part of a team. Scouts learn essential outdoor safety skills as well as participate in a variety of physical and intellectual challenges.
We welcome interested children to come along for a couple of try out nights to test the adventure. Details on how to apply for this at Samford Scout Group are at www.scoutsqld.com.au

It’s official: Australian Scouts are more self-confident, better socially connected, feel good about themselves, are more positive at coping with life, and get on better with different people. They’re also proactive in dealing with their problems, and to talk with others if they’re upset, read more books for fun, and are less likely to use their devices overnight.

Research by Resilient Youth Australia has compared a national sample of Australian Scouts aged 8-18 with 110,000 of their peers. The result: Scouts generally feel more Connected, Protected and Respected. This means better mental health and a host of other advantages.

A new year brings new opportunities and this is a call out to parents .
to consider having their child join scouts if they want them to develop life skills like leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and independence through fun, adventurous outdoor activities, making new friends, and learning values like honesty, respect, and responsibility outside of the usual school environment, with the added benefit of family involvement opportunities. Scouting offers practical skills (first aid, cooking, bushcraft, outdoor activities) and personal development skills (confidence, resilience) through programs that suit different age groups from 5-25 years old..
Samford Scout Group is welcoming new applications for young people to trial scouting for free in 2026. Plus if you are looking for an adult volunteering opportunity in 2026 we’d like to show you how you can help us..
To register your interest in coming along for a free trial and information session, please go to www.samfordscouts.com.au or click on www.scoutsqld.com.au/enrolment-enquiry/

The Samford Joey Scouts bring joy to the lives of many at Christmas time by making Christmas cards for their designated local charity, the Samford Support Network. These cards are then distributed out to members of the community who the charity assist, carrying the Joey Scouts message of helping other people that many little hands provide with smiles.
