PERMITS 🔥

Remember if you are burning vegetation that is more than 2 metres in any direction you need to obtain a Permit to Light Fire from your Fire Warden.

Before lighting ensure you:
✅️ check the forecast weather conditions, especially the wind speed
✅️ have safety measures in place - water, a hose or pump to a dam; rake or shovel; adequate people present in case the fire escapes from the pile
✅ ️mow a 3 meter minimum break
✅ ️don't leave the fire unattended
✅ ️extinguish the residual fire when finished
✅️ call Triple Zero - 000 immediately should you lose control of the fire

Think of a Fire Permit as a FREE insurance policy.

We visited both of the Samford Community Kindergarten groups recently.
The children learnt about the special clothes and equipment firefighters use to protect them from heat, smoke and fireground hazards.
They were also shown equipment carried on fire trucks and the inside of the cabin plus got to use a hose.
A fun time for everyone - us included!
