Huge thank you to the amazing team at RAWR - Reptile Amphibian Wildlife Rescue Anne and Elliot. They organised and quickly rescued our resident water dragon who had become trapped in the fence.

Any little friends who were concerned should be reassured he is rescued and in safe hands 💛 all our playgroup friends are wishing the lizard a speedy recovery.

🎉 WE’RE SEMIFINALISTS! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that Samford Playgroup has been named a semifinalist in the Community Achievement Awards – Dedicated to Supporting Young Queenslanders Award! 💛

It is such an honour to be nominated and recognised for the important role that playgroup plays in the lives of young children, families and our wider community.

Samford Playgroup is the longest-running playgroup in Queensland, proudly bringing local families together since 1974. Over the years, generations of children have come through our doors to play, learn, explore and make some of their very first friendships.

Our goal has always been to create a welcoming space where children and parents can play, connect and foster a positive sense of community. Playgroup is about so much more than toys and activities, it is a place for families to build friendships, find support and feel connected during those important early years.

This recognition belongs to our wonderful volunteers, families, past and present members, Play Matters Australia, Samford RSL Sub-Branch Inc, community partners and supporters who continue to make Samford Playgroup such a special place.

We are so proud of how far our little playgroup has come and incredibly grateful to our community for continuing to support us. 💛

💛 A huge thank you to Deb, our local Queensland Children’s Rights Ambassador, for visiting us at Samford Playgroup today! 💛

Deb spent the morning sharing stories with the children and talking with our families about the importance of children’s rights. She also generously provided us with some wonderful resources to use during Children’s Rights Week.

Children’s rights are about ensuring every child is safe, valued, respected and heard, and has opportunities to learn, play, grow and participate in their community. Promoting these rights from the early years helps children understand that their voice matters and supports families and communities to create environments where children can thrive.

We’re so grateful to Deb for taking the time to visit our playgroup, share her knowledge and help us continue creating a welcoming and supportive space for our littlest community members.

Thank you, Deb! 💛

🌟 SPECIAL VISITOR THIS THURSDAY! 🌟

Join us this Thursday, 9–11am, as we welcome Deb, our local Children’s Rights Queensland Ambassador. 💛

Deb will be joining our little friends for some stories and songs, as well as chatting with parents and caregivers about children’s rights and child safety.

Children’s Week 2026 will be celebrated from 24th of October – 1st of November, helping raise awareness of the rights of every child and the important role families and communities play in protecting and supporting them.

Understanding children’s rights is so important. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, respected and heard, and to grow up in an environment that supports their wellbeing, development and sense of belonging. Helping children understand their rights also encourages them to use their voice, recognise safe and respectful relationships, and know that the adults around them are there to listen and support them. 💛

We’re looking forward to welcoming Deb and sharing this important morning with our playgroup families!
