Back in May we mentioned we were visited by the film crew from the life show Postcards, who were interested in filming a segment at the Museum. We have been advised this segment will be part of their broadcast shown on Monday, 24th of August on 9Life at 11.30am.

The blacksmith will be running classes doing copper work this weekend. Projects for 5 year olds to adults available. Will be doing steel work early in the day with my students but copper can be done after 11. Copper does not require heat so easier to work, and so is a good starting place. There is a cost based on materials needed and time. Normally I run these sessions on the first Sunday of the month but family commitments come first. Unfortunately I have the same situation next month so will be running classes the second Sunday next month as well.

August is Family History Month in Australia & New Zealand. Here at Samford Museum we invite Family and surrounding districts to explore our extensive resources. New Samford Reminiscences stories are always welcome for inclusion in the Museum's collection of Family & local history. Available published books can be found on our website samfordmuseum.org.au Before making a visit please let us know the Family or area of interest so Volunteers can arrange and prepare for your visit. A small admission is charged on entry & a donation is appreciated for information discovered. Pre-visit enquiries & arrangements can also be made via our page. Many, many Families have memories of events held at the Farmers' Hall since its 1918 opening. Would you like to share your Samford Reminiscences with Samford Museum? Or learn more? Just recently we hosted a film crew from 9Now, who make the show Postcards, at the Museum and included us as part of their programme. Host Lavinia Nixon wrote an entry in our Visitors' Book:- 'What an interesting look at Life before our time, Can't wait to show it on Channel 9'. The Postcards episode will be shown on 9Now sometime in August and we will advise you of the timing.

At the Museum we host schools & show the pupils how life was different 100 plus years ago. Always has an impact.

The blacksmith will be working in the museum on Sunday. He also runs classes in copper work which is suitable for all ages as the work is done cold with very small hammers. Simple rings are a great child project ($5) up to complex brackets and flowers which cost more. Anzac Day has been but the components will be there to make poppies out of steel ($20) as well as some already made are still available. Again all cold work but more suitable for teenagers and adults.

Although the weather was inclement, it was sorely needed. However, the vibe all day was really very pleasant and Visitors had a lot to look at and listen to. The Samford Singers also entertained with Anzac themed songs. Thank you to all those who braved the rain for the Ceremony and for visiting the Samford Museum.
