FIRE PERMITS REQUIRED

The Statutory Bush Fire Danger Period is now in effect. Fire permits are now required in our area until the 31st of March 2027.

What you need to know:
- You are required to give at least 24hrs notice to your neighbours and the NSW RFS before lighting your burn.

- The permit holder must be present and have the permit on their person at the fire until it is fully extinguished.

- Permit holders must follow all the conditions outlined in the permit, keeping in mind permits may be varied, suspended or cancelled depending on conditions, and are automatically suspended on high fire risk and Total Fire Ban days.

October 1st marks the start of the Statutory Bush Fire Danger Period, which is in effect until 31 March 2027.
During this time, a Fire Permit is required for any burning activities undertaken outdoors. Before lighting, you must also notify your neighbours and the Rural Fire Service at least 24 hours prior to your burn.

⚠️ Please note: Fire Permits are automatically suspended on days of a Total Fire Ban.

🕊️ Vale Leslie Bowden AFSM

It is with heavy hearts that we learn of the passing of our much loved Life Member, friend and Retired Group Captain, Leslie (Les) Bowden AFSM.

Les joined the NSW Rural Fire Service in 1980 and dedicated more than four decades to serving our Brigade, our community and the wider New South Wales community. Throughout his distinguished service, Les held numerous leadership roles, including Group Captain, Captain, Senior Deputy and Deputy, as well as serving as a Fire Investigator and Permit Officer.

Les was made a Life Member of our Brigade in 2018 and was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal in 2006, alongside numerous citations and long service recognitions.

However for those who knew Les, he was much more than his service history. He was a bloke who enjoyed a cuppa, a biscuit, a bit of cheek and plenty of friendly banter.

His knowledge, dedication, friendship and contribution will be remembered by many generations of our Brigade.

Our thoughts are with Les’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you for your many dedicated years of service, Les.
