It’s been a busy few days for the crew at Salisbury SES. From mid afternoon Sunday to Tuesday night we responded to 66 requests for assistance.

As a gesture of thanks for our efforts, our great mate John Fulbrook MP delivered these delicious white chocolate mud cakes for our crew to enjoy.

Thank you very much John, they were absolutely delicious 😋

Hi Friends,

Salisbury SES are participating in the Peoples First lottery again this year. We are currently raising funds to purchase a 40ft shipping container to put at our site at Salisbury Heights. This will provide us with additional storage as well as a structure for our crews to conduct roof safety training on.

If you are able to support us by buying a ticket ( or two ) in the lottery we would be eternally grateful. 100% of the proceeds from the ticket sales go to our unit and there are some really cool prizes to be won.

Need help moo-ving? 🐮 In the early hours of Friday morning, SES crews from Salisbury State Emergency Service and Gawler State Emergency Service alonsgide Springton SA Country Fire Service were called by a property owner to rescue an 800kg steer, Mooch, who had been stuck in the mud for over four hours!

Thankfully Mooch was successfully unstuck from the mud hole, with SES crews using a harness to help lift the animal out.

Last night the Salisbury SES crew attended Wear Orange Wednesday celebrations at SASES HQ in Keswick.

WOW day is a day to celebrate the sacrifices and dedication that all SES volunteers across the country show to support their local communities.

At Salisbury though, we celebrate our members EVERY day. The dedication they show, the perseverance during the worst weather conditions and the time they sacrifice to support their community is outstanding. And while doing all this they have a smile on their face.

What an absolute bunch of legends.

SANDBAGS ... SANDBAGS ... SANDBAGS !!!

Hi Friends,

With the impending wet weather we have been receiving lots of enquiries about where to get sandbags. Please see below locations where you can get sandbags over the weekend.

Parafield Gardens - North Pines Football Club, Andrew Smith Dve

St Kilda - 2 Beach Road

Para Hills - Para Hills Community Hub, 22 Wilkinson Road

PLEASE NOTE, the above locations are self serve SES Sandbag supply boxes. They are filled with empty sandbags only. We believe that Salisbury Council have arranged to deliver truck loads of sand to these locations so that members of the public can fill their own sandbags.

Salisbury Council have also arranged for sandbags and sand to be available from 61 Research road, Pooraka on Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 5pm.

This weekend is set to be giving us some pretty heavy rainfall. Please be prepared by clearing your gutters and downpipes and securing all loose objects outside your home.

Yep, that’s right, pretty much the whole state! So, it’s important for all of us to be prepared.

The highest rainfall totals are forecast over North East Pastoral district during today. However, rainfall is forecast to extend southwards from Friday and over the weekend. Accumulated rainfall totals will be significant.

What can you do to be prepared and stay safe?
> Where it is safe to do so, clear gutters, downpipes and drains to prevent water damage to your home or property
> Check whether you need sandbags. If your property is prone to flooding, SES sandbag pod locations are listed on the SES website: https://www.ses.sa.gov.au/incidents-and-warnings/about-sa-ses-sandbag-locations
> Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater.
> Keep children well away from floodwater, creeks and storm drains.
