🎙️ Episode 4 of The Toy Library Effect is here!

How can the right toy create new possibilities for play?

This episode looks at how toys can support communication, movement, sensory play and learning for children with diverse developmental needs, including adapting play to suit each child, following their interests, and trying toys through a toy library without the pressure of getting it "right". We also hear how adapted and switch-accessible toys can give children with physical disability greater independence in play.

Special thanks to our guests for sharing their expert insights:

Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day! 🎉❤️🖤💛

This year's theme is Living Our Truth, celebrating the journeys Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children take as they grow, guided by culture, community and connection to Country. Together, we can nurture their voices and dreams, and support a future where every child walks strong in their identity.

New toys in our collection and a great article supporting the rotation of toys. What great reasons to support your local toy library 🙂

One simple change can make old toys feel new again. 💡

Instead of having every toy available all the time, try rotating them.

Putting some toys away for a few weeks and bringing them back later can:
✔️ Keep play fresh
✔️ Encourage creativity
✔️ Help children focus
✔️ Reduce overwhelm
✔️ Support changing interests

As Dr Kate Renshaw explains in our new Play at Home resource, toy libraries make toy rotation easy by giving families access to a wide variety of toys without needing to constantly buy more.
