Sale United’s annual 7v7 Mixed Tournament kicks off on Tuesday 13 October at the Godfrey Baldwin Reserve.

How to enter:
1) Get your team together - squads of 10, with 2 female players on the field at all times.
2) Each player registers individually through the GoFootball link.
3) Have your skipper send your completed team list to [email protected].

The club couldn’t be prouder as we look back on the amazing season each team had culminating with our u15 team winning the FVLV Premiership.

Sale United Womens team ended the season on a high as they welcomed Monash Womens team to Godfrey Baldwin Reserve. The game was played in good spirits and we wish Monash Women all the best for the Cup Finals.

ALL SUFC TEAMS UNDEFEATED LAST GAME OF THE SEASON BEFORE HEADING INTO THE QUARTER FINALS.

SENIOR MEN
In stunning late Winter weather, the Swans hosted Monash in the final home and away Season. Still smarting from the result of the corresponding fixture at Monash in mid-June it was the Wolves who settled early and punished the sluggish Swans through a quick transition and tidy finish from Jared Baldachhino. Enjoying a dominant first 25 minutes the Wolves cashed in on a defensive error when the referee pointed to the spot with the resultant penalty kick converted by Adam Semple to send the visitors 2-0. A palatable change in intensity from the Greens led to a physical encounter with both sides trying to gain ascendancy with the Sale midfielders getting on top through Jonah Willan and Nelson Stock. In the shadows of halftime, a well taken free kick whipped into the back post from Tom Garner led to Sale’s first as Luke Williams capitalised on the goal mouth scramble leaving the score 2-1 to Monash at the long break.

The second half started where the Swans left as they returned to parity with a superb midfield transition that was calmly finished by Nelson Stock. The fast-paced game ebbed and flowed from end to end and when Charlie Cockell found his range to chip the visitors custodian the Swans grabbed the lead for only 5 minutes until Adam Semple waltzed through the defence to bring the scoreline back to 3-3. A jinking overlapping run by the industrious Dan Patchett netted the fourth for the Greens with his well finished strike. Minutes later Charlie Cockell iced the game with an identical goal to his first again chipping the keeper, securing the 3 points for the Swans. The result gave the Swans 31 points for the Season their best haul in over a decade.

Best players for Sale, Jonah Willan who left his best performance for last dazzling in the midfield, Nelson Stock, Charlie Cockell and Dan Patchett.

The Swans now focus their attention to the Battle Of Britain Cup where they are drawn to play League Runners-Up Churchill United at the Paddock on Sunday 6th of September.

RESERVES
In Sale’s final home game of the season, the League’s clear top two reserves sides met once more, with the Swans determined to overturn the earlier season result and complete the achievement of defeating every opponent in the competition this season. In a sign of respect and sportmanship, a guard of honour was offered to league champions Monash before kick-off, but from the opening whistle it was straight down to business for both teams.

A much-changed Sale side saw several players asked to take up less familiar roles, while the return of one of Sale's talismanic number nines, Liam Macreadie, added lightning pace and powerful hold-up play to the front line. In an absorbing contest defined by ebb and flow, tough tackling and momentum shifts the breakthrough eventually came through another moment of all-too-common brilliance from box-to-box maestro Nyasha Mazorodze, whose long-range effort cannoned off the crossbar. Sam Lummis reacted quickest in the opposition box, guiding a well-placed header over the line to give Sale the 1-0 lead. Some brilliant recovery running and 1:1 defending from both Jhon "JD" Joromat and Hayden John allowed Sale to see out the half and take a deserved lead into the break.

The message in the sheds was clear: regroup, double down on the disciplined defensive work, and find the second goal to kill off the contest. In the second half, Sale continued to absorb Monash pressure while remaining dangerous in transition, and their persistence was eventually rewarded when the industrious Lummis produced a tidy piece of footwork to gain half a yard before being brought down in the area. Up stepped Will Glover, dispatching the penalty with trademark confidence to send the home crowd into raptures and bring his remarkable individual season tally to 30 goals. The 2-0 victory not only secured an impressive win over the champions but also confirmed our Reserves finished the entire campaign undefeated at home - a fitting way to close out their final League appearance at Godfrey Baldwin Reserve for 2026.

3RD DIVISION
Sale United’s Third Division side finished the season undefeated after a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Monash Soccer Club. It was a competitive game, with both teams working hard defensively and creating opportunities throughout the match. Sale United showed plenty of attacking intent but were unable to find the breakthrough.

Sale United created several promising chances, with Cameron Irvine coming closest to opening the scoring. Irvine found himself with a clear opportunity, but the Monash goalkeeper produced an excellent save to keep the scores level. Despite continuing to press and create chances, Sale United could not find the back of the net.

The final whistle confirmed a 0–0 draw, but the result still marked an impressive achievement for Sale United, who completed their season undefeated. While they would have liked to finish with a win, the team can be proud of a strong season and their consistency throughout the campaign.

SENIOR WOMEN
The last round of the 2026 season was a special one for the senior women’s team. We celebrated some special milestones and topped it off with a 10-0 win.
Laurel Irvine played her 175th game, retiring from the team she helped build from scratch 10 years ago. We are so proud of her achievements and dedication to female football. Megan McGrath played her first senior women’s game, putting in a stellar effort on her debut.

Gun striker, Hollie Ryan, was on fire, a first half hat-trick and two in the second half, each of the five goals impressive finishes in their own right. Ryan finishes as Runnerup in the league leading goalscorer on 26 goals. Tara Howell scored one in each half, the first one a brilliant strike into the top corner. Maddi Breakspear scored after running into a great Ryan through ball. Indee Ryan scored a beautiful long-range strike from Ryan’s short corner. Eden Fullerton pounced on a 6-yard box scramble from a corner, volleying it home.

Best players were H.Ryan, Breakspear, Howell and Rohanna Mills.

“5 from 5” - ALL SALE UNITED FC JUNIORS TRIUMPH IN THE SEMI-FINALS.

In perfect conditions at Godfrey Baldwin Reserve on Saturday, Sale United Football Club had five teams involved in the top divisions of the semi-finals and all five teams were victorious.

U13 A Division, U13 Girls Division, U15 A Division, U15/16 Girls Division and U17 Boys Division were all winners in very close games. They will now play in the FVLV League Grand Finals next Saturday. A fitting result for all these teams as all of them were Runners-up in their League Divisions with the U15's being League Champions.

The closest of all was the U13 girls’ game which went into extra time. Sale United Swanettes came up against their friendly competitive rivals, Moe United Soccer Club, and it was always going to be an even match. Sale scored first through Kylah Pearson but Moe hit back twice through Mikayla Kay. With the game looking beaten and only a minute left on the clock, up stepped defender extraordinaire Safia Eldred who drove the ball from the back line into the back of the net and put the scores deadlocked at 2-2. Coach Kruse Rothnie gave the team a pep talk to get them in the right mindset and they did not disappoint. In extra time Kylah Pearson scored the winner, making it 3-2 and the young Swanettes advanced to the Final. In the other semi-final Olympians defeated Churchill.

The U15/16 girls’ game was a nail-biter against Traralgon with end-to-end football the order of the day. In a game that saw the mighty Swanettes be very competitive throwing everything learned under coach Teagan Fairbrother at the improved Traralgon City side. Scores were deadlocked at half-time 0-0 and Fairbrother gathered the troops at the main break to encourage them to play their own game. Not long after, early in the second half, the hero of the day, Paige Marshall, smashed the back of the net, scoring at the 41st minute. The team continued to focus, giving their all and shutting down defensively everything that the determined Traralgon side threw at them. Final score 1-0. They will now come up against Monash Soccer Club who had a 1-0 win over Churchill.

Sale United u13 defeated Traralgon City 2-0 keeping the opposition scoreless with a very strict defence line. The first half was tense as both teams found their groove. Mikey Coleman broke the silence with a great goal at the 28th minute, taking Sale to the break 1-0 up. But it was young gun Alfie McAdam who got on the end of a corner kick and easily put the ball straight past the keeper. This lifted the Sale players and with coaches Michael Palmer and Ben McAdam giving the players positive reinforcements, they made sure that they defended well for the rest of the game ensuring the final score stood at 2-0. SUFC will meet Morwell Pegasus in the Grand Final after they easily accounted for Traralgon Olympians Blue 7-0.

Although being plagued by illness during the week, the Sale United U15s proved why they are the best team in the League when they showed true depth across the squad and won their semi-final 3-0 over the tenacious Morwell Pegasus outfit. Prolific goalscorer, Tommy Harrington, showed why he is one of the best strikers by scoring not only at the 11th minute but just one minute later adding a further nail to the coffin at the 12th minute. Going into the half-time break they knew Pegasus would come out firing, but Sale dominated and put up that brick wall. Captain, Ted Crouch, added a goal at the 65th minute to secure the win for the Greens. Coaches, Mark Cockell and Anouk Meereboer, couldn’t be prouder of their team who are looking to try and take the FVLV double. Winning both the League Championship and Cup titles is now on the cards. Morwell Falcons defeated EGUFC Gold side 2-0 in the other 15A division semi-final and will come up against the Swans in the Cup Final.

The match of the day was the u17 Division where Sale United overcome Traralgon City in a very crowd-pleasing game. Spectators from the club MiniRoos U7s right through to the senior teams were on hand to witness Coach Liam Macreadie’s side triumph in a high-stakes cliffhanger. With some quick passing combinations, and rapid transitions in tight spaces saw Sale continue to attack. If not for the goalkeeping work by Traralgon’s Jack Isherwood, the score could have blown out, as he kept Traralgon in the game right through to the final whistle. At the 60th minute, SUFC’s Sammuel Lummis was on target to score and as he ran into the box towards goal number 17 Djaryn Hood fouled him. Referee, Kenneth Hili, had no choice but to award a penalty kick. Kai Giuliani stepped up to the spot and converted, triggering a massive roar from the crowd. In the other semi-final it was Churchill who buried 3 goals to defeat Traralgon Olympians and earn a spot in the Grand Final against SUFC.

Thank you to the other Gippsland Referee Branch members who officiated and kept everything in check: Kai Baudendistel, Kenneth Hili, Andrew Riess, Tyson Baudendistel, Yanni Hortis, Liam Bianconi, Ethan Pritchard, Jamison Frendo and Jet Ason.

A massive thank you to all the SUFC volunteers who came forward to help ensure the day run smoothly. In particular to these volunteers who put in between 8 - 20 hours over the past couple of days preparing: Grant Richardson, Cameron Irvine, Tom Breakspear, Gabrielle Clare, Teagan Fairbrother, Laurel Irvine, Melesa Eldred and Darleen Richardson.
