Earlier this week DCV had the pleasure of welcoming Mary Aldred MP to our Warragul Head Office.

Mary met with our team and spoke at length with our CEO, Rhys Gorman, about the current challenges and issues participants in Gippsland are facing with the NDIS.

In particular, we shared the stories of 4 participants who represent just a handful of people that have been impacted by inconsistencies in the NDIS planning / review process and that have faced impacts to their health and wellbeing as a result of arbitrary decisions by the agency.

Following this meeting, Rhys said “as an organisation, we know the NDIS is a key lifeline for people with permanent and significant disability. Mary is very passionate about ensuring reform in the NDIS does not impact the safety and quality of supports being provided to NDIS participants”.

At a time when we are hearing feedback and fear on the future of the NDIS, we sincerely appreciate Mary taking the time to hear our feedback - and for her ongoing commitment to ensuring the voice of people with Disabilities in our region are heard loud and clear in Canberra.

Housemates Wanted – Meet Alex

📍 SDA High Physical Support home in Newborough, Vic
✨ Two vacancies available

Alex is looking for compatible housemates to share his home with.

Alex is an early riser, often starting his day from around 4:30am. He enjoys a calm and predictable routine, spending most of his time relaxing in his room or lounge space, playing with his toys and listening to music on the radio.

From time to time, Alex likes to wander around the house and explore his environment in his own way.

What Alex enjoys:
- Children’s toys and sensory play
- Listening to music
- Trips to Kmart and op shops
- Cherry Ripes
- Relaxing in the sun
- Lying on his picnic rug or bouncing on his trampoline
- Simple outings like a picnic in the park

About the home:
This is a purpose-built High Physical Support SDA home, designed to balance comfort, safety, and independence.

- Three residents in total
- Private bedrooms with spacious ensuites and built-in wardrobes
- TVs in all bedrooms
- Shared living spaces designed for both independence and connection
- Advanced assistive technology throughout
- Ceiling hoist (450kg capacity)
- Backup power, intercom system, and automated features
- Air conditioning and double-glazed windows
- Adjustable electric dining table and accessible kitchen features
- Beautiful outdoor areas

The home has a modern, welcoming feel while providing the supports needed for everyday living. It’s designed to offer both privacy and peace of mind for residents, families, and support teams.

Alex’s ideal housemates:
- People who are happy to share a home with someone who enjoys their own space
- Quiet and respectful of a calm environment
- Independent and not expecting a highly social household
- Comfortable with Alex keeping to himself most of the time

This could be a great fit for people who also value a peaceful home and a balance of independence and shared living.

Suitable for NDIS participants with SDA funding (High Physical Support)

We’re proud to introduce Community Connect Victoria (CCV), a new part of the Disability Connect Victoria (DCV) family.

CCV has been created as a dedicated branch of DCV to focus on Support Coordination, Recovery Coaching, and Aged Care Coordination. This step came from listening to participants, families, and our team, and recognising the growing need for specialised coordination and guidance across complex systems.

CCV allows us to expand our support offering while keeping a clear focus. The same values, experienced staff, and person-centred approach you expect will continue to drive CCV.

As CCV grows, it will also develop additional offerings, including Behaviour Support, group activities, and more.

For our existing DCV clients, there will be a careful and seamless transition. Anyone impacted by the move of services from DCV to CCV will receive clear communication, practical guidance, and ongoing support to make the process simple and stress-free.

DCV will continue to deliver accommodation and direct support services, while CCV focuses on coordination, recovery, and aged care support. Together, the two businesses work side by side to provide more choice, clarity, and continuity for the people we support.

We’re excited to see CCV grow and support more people across Victoria.
